Eagerly Anticipated Sequels of 2010 by Amy

I wanted to post about all the new sequels I am looking forward to in 2010. YEAH! Yippee!

If you are like me, I am a worry-wart when it comes to wondering when a book comes out. Just not knowing for sure when a book is placed on that shelf, that I've been patiently waiting for... that's the worst. NO, actually the worst would be... someone already reading it and calling you (because they know your a fan) and speaking to you in detail *Spoiler Alerts all over the place* THAT would be the worst.

The Host, with it's bonus chapter, came out days before I knew it. When I casually walked into a bookstore and saw it, there was a bright, glowing light from behind it and I heard actual angels singing "AWWWWWW" in a high-pitched angelic tone. (work with me) "It's here", I screamed. Finally, I was able to fill in the gap about Melanie and Jared, Wanda and Ian ~ I was excited to read it (very good BTW), but I want it the day it comes out! I was in line at 11:00 pm every time a new Harry Potter book came out at midnight. In line with my five children two hours early for the midnight showings of all the HP movies. Maybe it's my personality... But, I don't want to wait, I want to read the books NOW ~ as soon as possible.
Good luck teaching my children patience after they read my post today.

So I have decided to take the time, actually look up dates and figure out when my anticipated sequels come out. I also threw in some books that Andye and Abigaile are waiting for. Hopefully this will be helpful, put these dates on your calender ...

LingerLinger by Maggie Stiefvater ~ July 20, 2010
The sequel for Shiver...

This is a story about a boy who used to be a wolf and about a girl who was becoming one...

Just a few months ago, it was Sam who was the mythical creature. His was the disease we couldn't cure. His was the good-bye that meant the most. He had the body that was the mystery, too strange and wonderful and terrifying to comprehend.

But now it's spring. With the heat the remaining wolves will soon be falling out of their wolf pelts and back into their human bodies. Sam stays Sam, Cole stays Cole and it's only me who's not firmly in my own skin.

Worse, Meghan's own fey powers have been cut off. She's alone in Faery with only her wits for help. Trusting anyone would be foolish. Trusting a seeming traitor could be deadly. The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Twelfth Grade KillsThe Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Twelfth Grade Kills by Heather Brewer ~ September 21, 2010

Sequel to Eleventh Grade Burns

It all comes down to this...

Vlad's running out of time. The Elysian Council has given him weeks to live, and that's if the Slayer Society doesn't kill him - along with all the citizens of Bathory - First.

Then there's the issue of Vlad's father, who may or may not still be alive after all these years, that tiny little detail in the Pravus prophecy about Vlad enslaving Vampirekind and the human race. So much for college applications.

In this epic finale to Heather Brewer's heart-stopping Chronicles of Vladimir Tod, dark secrets will be revealed, old friends will be become enemies and warm blood will turn cold. Just be careful it isn't yours.

TormentTorment by Lauren Kate ~ September 28, 2010
Sequel to Fallen

There is only a little information about the summary I could find.

In an interview with Lauren Kate, she revealed three new things about the sequel...

1. As Luce learns more about her past, she comes into a host of powers she never knew she had - and they might involve the shadows.

2. After the second book comes out, a prequel (which will span thousands of years!) will follow before the final book in the series.

3. Even though, of course, Daniel is Luce's one-and-only, a very interesting new male character is introduced in Torment, that offers Daniel some stiff competition.

Beautiful DarknessBeautiful Darkness by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl ~ October 10, 2010

Sequel to Beautiful Creatures

Ethan Wate used to think of Gatlin, the small southern town he had always called home, as a place where nothing ever changed. Then he met mysterious newcomer Lena Duchannes, who revealed a secret world that had been hidden in plain sight all along. A Gatlin that harbored ancient secrets beneath it's moss-covered oaks and cracked sidewalks. A Gatlin where a curse has marked Lena's family of powerful supernaturals for generations
A Gatlin where impossible, magical, life-altering events happen.

Sometimes life-ending.

Together they can face anything that Gatlin throws at them, but after suffering a tragic loss, Lena starts to pull away, keeping secrets that test their relationship. And, now that Ethan's eyes have been opened to the darker side of Gatlin, there's no going back. Haunted by strange visions only he can see, Ethan is pulled deeper into his town's tangled history and finds himself caught up in the dangerous network of underground passageways endlessly crisscrossing the South, where nothing is as it seems.

SapphiqueSapphique by Catherine Fisher ~ December 28, 2010

Sequel to Incarceron

Finn has escaped from the terrible living Prison of Incarceron, but it's memory torments him, because his brother Keiro is still inside. Outside, Claudia still insists he must be king, but Finn doubts his own identity. Is he the lost Prince Giles? Or are his memories nothing more than another construct of the imprisonment? Can you really be free if your friends are still captive? Can you be free in your world is frozen in time? Can you be free if you don't really know who you are? Inside Incarceron, has the crazy sorcerer Rix really found the glove of Sapphique, the only man the prison ever loved. Sapphique, whose image fires Incarceron with the desire to escape its own nature. If Keiro steals the glove, will he bring destruction to the world? Inside. Outside. All seeking freedom. Like Sapphique.

O.K, now I feel much better. Dates are stored safely in my IPhone - alarms will sound at midnight of the day these sequels come out!

Frozen Lasagna will be served, children will be ignored, husband will be pouting, dog's will have to hold it. Yes, my booty will get soar...

Let me know if a missed a biggie, or tell me what your anxious to read.

This is a good year for sequels. Get in line behind me, please. I was here first :0)

Amy ~ Aaronswoman

  1. I'm also really excited about Clockwork Angel, City of Fallen Angels, and Beautiful Darkness. I haven't read Fallen yet, but I've heard really good things about it and I anticipate I'll be awaiting the follow up too.

I'm also waiting for the next books in the Morganville Vampire series.

Excellent idea for a post. I didn't know a few of these were coming out.

  2. Thank you Megan. I really enjoyed Fallen. You should read it.
