To enter this week's giveaway, you must be a follower of this blog, and since it is summer time and Andria is on vacation, I (AMY) am going to do something a little different. I am going to ask that you tell me what you favorite summer time dish/entree or memory of something you love to eat in the summer with your loved ones. Hamburgers/Hotdogs on the grill maybe or just a BIG slice of watermelon sounds good. This has nothing to do with books I know... this is just for my love of cooking. Let's just keep this secret to ourselves, Andria never needs to know! Shhhhhh!   Extra entries (+1) for Twitter/Facebook follows and Tweets (@ReadingTeen)/FB Shares, and (+2) for Blog Posts or Sidebar (leave links in the comments).

Thank You so much for following. We could not would not do this without our followers. Come back next Saturday to see the winner and enter in for another book giveaway!

ATTENTION!!  If you win and you'd like a series of books that are listed and are willing to pay the shipping, I will ship them all to you!  (It's too expensive for me to do it myself!)

Email me at ReadingTeen1 at with your book choice!!  You have a week to claim your prize!

This is what Khadija had to say...

My favorite vacation spot is Morocco-more specifically the Atlas mountains. I have many distant relatives in morocco- and its just so cool....the Atlas mountain chain that runs threw morocco is just...breathtaking EVERYONE should see that at least once in their life. Casablance is beautiful and most of my family lives there so thats always fun...and i'm never bored their is always something to do weather it be clibling mountains, touring old kasbas or making msimon :)

  1. I love burgers straight from the grill topped with tomato and bacon and mayo
    tbarrettno1 at gmail dot com

  2. @Tabithia
MAN, your makin' me hungry! Thanks for being the first to comment.

  3. There's this very popular food in Malaysia named ABC (stands for Ais Batu Campur, it means Mixed Ice I guess) or Ais Kacang. Two names! :D

and another similar-ish food/drink is called Cendol.

They're yummy! :D I guess ABC / Ais Kacang are like shaved ice in the US.

  4. Chocolate sno-cone is my favorite summer treat. I wish I had one right now!!

I LOVE eating watermelon during the summer. However, during the summer I'm usually at my least hungry. I really don't bode well under the heat. :P

  7. I just love (like a good mexican): TACOS!
they're delicious! and you can eat all kinds of them so it's like you're having a complete meal but composed of only tacos, yummy, like chiken tacos with guacamole and lots of hot sauce and grilled jalapeños, and my mom makes the most delicious of them all!, OMG I better go find something to eat now

I follow in twitter and facebook (: @melannielove

  8. The thing I like most during the summer(although I would love to have one all year round) is Spearmint snowcones!!!! Its the only kind of snowcone I eat but they are hard for me to find :(

My sister and other family lie in Louisiana so we go there several times a year (mostly during the summer though) and I get one every chance I get. We drive through Texas on our way from Oklahoma and I cant find them anywhere but Louisiana. I did find one place here in Tulsa once that tried to mix there own spearmint using lime and peppermint but it wasnt the same at all.

  9. Some of my favourite memories are of BBQs my parents held when I was little. There would be barbecued steak, sausages, mushrooms, onions, and lots of salads - coleslaw, potato salad, green salad. Delicious! I could go a BBQ right now :)

This won't be the healthiest recipe, but I love the onion strings I learned to make from The Pioneer Woman. They're like onion rings, only easier to make (because of the "dry batter") and much more flavourful! The trick is the cayenne pepper. ;-)

  21. Ice cream for sure! Vanilla ice cream and then adding in all the extra stuff is one of the best things of summer.

  22. I have to echo the many burgers straight from the grill. Nothing taste as good as a home made burger on the grill. Sorry McDonalds and Burger King. No comparison. Then add some corn on the cob and baked beans and you got yourself the ultimate summer meal. ^^

  29. Ooh, nice question ! My friend's and I are teens so we just like to chill around and just have fun in the summer. Ice cream trucks come around usually every other day in our neighborhood, but we freak only when we hear a certain tune. There is this ice truck called Weasers and they have the best ices ever. And everytime that truck comes around, we always get it. My favorite flavors are Coconut and Watermelon :D

  30. was following the blog. Now following on twitter and facebook too. My favorite summertime food? Hmm, my mom makes delicious homemade macaroni. It's super cheesy, baked and a little crispy.

  31. When it's warm outside, I hate eating warm food! So during summer my favourite dish is sallads! Chicken sallad, bacon sallad, pasta sallad - anything! ;)

  32. Chocolate ice cream. In a chocolate dipped cone.

  33. I love my homemade Frog-eyed salad! (Otherwise known as carb salad.) It is delicious and I make it every time we have a BBQ.

I also love my mom's lemonade bars. They are icecream with lemonade, and then cut into squares on top of grahm cracker crust. Weird, but quite refreshing.

  36. My favourite summer dish is pasta salad, OMG I love it! It's delicious, and the best is that you don't have to worry for the ingredients! I always do it with the food I have in the fridge, no need to go buy something else! hahha

  37. My favorite thing to eat in the summer is snow cones. We have a shop here that makes the best snow cones with the fluffiest and lightest ice! The owner is like a celebrity! haha.

  39. You named 'em! Hot dogs/Cheese burgers on the grill with chips, fruit, and - if I'm lucky - homemade ice cream! ;D

(PS. I follow both of you on Twitter.)

  40. Although cheesecake has always been my favorite desert, it doesn't come to my mind like jello does when I think "hot summer afternoons". I remember romping in the yard with my older brother and sister way back when life was still all about fun and smiling. At the end of the afternoon, I remembered traipsing back into the house and lo and behold, my mom would always reward each of us with a small cup of cold, grape jello. I remember how I painstakingly took as long as possible to finish it up. I even wished the cup had no bottom. Still jello was jello and when it started melting, I satisfied myself by downing the whole thing in all its purple glory.
