And The Award Goes To.....

YAY!!  Of course Harry Potter wins best all time fave!!  If you haven't read these books yet....don't even talk to me!  I don't want to hear your excuses!  Go NOW!!!

Have you seen this cover?  I've never seen it before!

FallenCongrats to Lauren Kate who won best new writer for FALLEN! This was one of Amy's favorite reads ever! TORMENT just released yesterday and Amy was very excited to show off her new shirt!  Check it out!

Spirit Bound (Vampire Academy, Book 5)
Best teen series: Vampire Academy: SPIRIT BOUND by Richelle Mead

I haven't read this series yet, but I've heard it's fantastic!  The sixth book in the series THE LAST SACRIFICE is due to release Dec. 7.

Best lip lock: Bella & Edward from BREAKING DAWN by Stephenie Meyer

Yeah....I'm going to have to disagree with that one!  If you're going to pick one of the Twilight books for best kiss, how can you NOT pick that kiss between Bella and Jacob?  I mean, I was an Edward girl (before the movies), but that kiss with Jacob......yeah!

City of Glass (Mortal Instruments)
Best hottie: Jace Waylaynd from Mortal Instruments: CITY OF GLASS by Cassandra Clare

Yes, I think I would have to agree with this one.  I just adore Jace!  He makes me smile!  He's just the perfect mix between bad-boy and love of my life.....wait, what?  I mean good guy!  Yes, that's what I meant!!  Seriously, really....
Congrats to Cassie for making such a swoon-worthy guy!  He may have a little compitition with her newest hottie, though, be sure to check out Will from CLOCKWORK ANGEL, you just might want to trade up!!

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - Movie Poster - 11 x 17Best book-to-flick: Harry Potter & the Half-Blood Prince by J.K. Rowling

Um....of course I love this pick!  I think this may have been the best adaptation of all the Harry Potter books to film, although what they did with Harry and Ginny's relationship borders on criminal!  I have a feeling that once The Deathly Hallows movies come out, I'll be picking a new favorite, though!  Have you seen the trailer???  If not, it's at the top of this blog!  I think I watch it every time I look at my blog!  Harry Potter = love!!

The Last Olympian (Percy Jackson & the Olympians, Book 5) Best hero: Percy Jackson from THE LAST OLYMPIAN by Rick Riordan

Ok, I'm going to admit something.....I didn't care for the Percy Jackson books.....there, I said it.  I couldn't make it through the first one.  BUT!!!  All of my kids (ages 7-14 at the time) LOVED them.  LOVED!  And I'm pretty sure that's his target!

Prophecy of the SistersBest villain: Alice Milthorpe from PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS by Michelle Zink

I'm really happy about this one!!  This was a really fantastic book and I just haven't heard that much about it in the blogging world, so I'm glad to see that it is being read by people and that Alice has given other people out there the chills too!  Alice is freaking creepy!!!  When I reviewed this book, I went through and wrote down my feelings chapter by chapter, and one thing that keept showing up in my thoughts was freaky Alice!!  Check out my review here.  I'm going to be reading the sequel GUARDIAN OF THE GATE for our Halloween reads in Oct

The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, Book 3)Best Canadian read: Darkest Power: THE RECKONING by Kelley Armstrong

I've had this book sitting on my shelf for awhile now, but I haven't had the chance to read it.  I keep seeing it everywhere, now, though, so I'm definitely putting at the top of my list!  Congrats, Kelley!

Catching Fire (The Second Book of the Hunger Games)Best Read: The Hunger Games: CATCHING FIRE by Suzanne Collins

Ok, so the BOOK-THAT-MUST-NOT-BE-NAMED totally killed this series for me, but I have to admit THE HUNGER GAMES, and CATCHING FIRE were amazing.  Until YOU-KNOW-WHAT came along, this would have ranked #2 in my favorite series ever.  So....if you haven't read them yet, and you want to be really depressed....read at your own risk.  Haha!  :)

Sadly BEAUTIFUL CREATURES by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl didn't win, but we're going to give it our own award!  So, it wins best Freaking Awesome book.  Yes...that's a category if we say it is!

If you haven't entered our contest for BEAUTIFUL DARKNESS & lots of SWAG yet, there's still time!!

To check out more about these awards, be sure to go to Teen Read Awards, presented by Indigo!  Thanks for voting!  Are you happy with the results?

  1. Nice to know that I wasn't the only one out there who didn't care for the final installment to the Hunger Games series.

  2. I agree with ALL the Harry Potter choices. I am, however, folding my arms and stopping on the floor out of rebellion because Beautiful Creatures didn't win in any category!

  3. Great picks! I have to agree with pretty much everything.

Vampire Academy is my favorite series. I was very surprised by that series and how much I enjoy it.

  5. You have GOT to read VAMPIRE ACADEMY!! One of my favs! I am gonna look up PROPHECY OF THE SISTERS by Michelle Zink.
I tried reading HUNGER GAMES but just couldn't get into it...but plan to try again after Torment!
I still have to read THE RECKONING too!

  6. Well, I'm english, so that's the DH cover I own two of. I'm just reading the beginning of Catching Fire, and so far I'm enjoying it. IT's really hard to write in the first persons so it flows, but Suzanne Collins pulled it off. Percy Jackson, definitely, love it. Really into all that mythological stuff, it's excellent. As for Vampire Academy... I read about three books and just stopped half way through one. Wasn't for me.

  7. You didn't like PERCY JACKSON?! How is that even possible??? lol But I'm obsessed with my myth, so that's probably why I loved them. Plus, I sorta have 7th grade boy humor a little...

Anyway, great winners! CATCHING FIRE was my favorite in the series, I think. I haven't read FALLEN or TORMENT, but I'm obsessed with the covers.

  8. I know, I know! I really wanted to like Percy Jackson, I just didn't *ducks for cover*. I actually did kind of like the movie, though!

OK, I will be reading The Vampire Academy!!! I keep meaning to, it's just that ALL THOSE BOOKS are a little overwhelming! :) Stop yelling at me! LOL! :P

  9. I switched to Team Jake too, though it had nothing to do with the movies. That kiss in Eclipse was HOTTTTTTT. Both book and movie. Whew. I don't even know what kiss they're talking about in Breaking Dawn...??? The one where they're rolling around in her bed? The one when they get married? Need more specifics here!

  10. Casey, I agree with you! What kiss are they even talking about? If they're going to pick an Edward/Bella kiss, they should've at least picked the first one. That's the one we all waiting so long for. It was the one that was full of anticipation and fear and longing.....and....wow....I think I need to go sit down....

    haha

  11. Yay. Potter for the win.... The trailer under your header is so tempting!!! But I promised no Potter trailer for me so every scene in the movie is a surprise.

  12. That cover of HP is the one I have, actually. Maybe it's an international cover?

Fallen was amazing and totally deserved its win. I liked the first three Vampire Academy books, but in the fourth and fifth I just felt like absolutely nothing HAPPENED to warrant my interest. I'll read Last Sacrifice, but only because it finishes off the series.

Best lip lock...eh, I would have picked the New Moon kiss if they were going Twilight, personally (though not the movie kiss, ick, I don't care for R-Pattz :P). Jace as best hottie was perfect. I wasn't a fan of the HBP movie, I felt like the others were all so much better, but oh well. I'm still SO pumped for the seventh!

And I too am glad I'm not the only one who seriously disliked Mockingjay xD I just...pretend it ended at Catching Fire or something. *nods*

Whoops, that turned out to be a little long.
