  1. Spiders. I hate them!

  2. Ghosts! I have never had any experience with them but just the idea scares me a lot.

  3. I'm scared of spiders but also sharks...I remember once going to the beach with family and my older sister was surfing while the rest of us were lazing around. After about half an hour we all look up to see my sister running up frantically and so we asked her what was wrong. She starts yelling about how she just saw a shark and we all assumed she was joking. Then a couple walks past we overhear them talking to each other about the groups of dolphins...We cracked up so hard because her face was priceless...but thank goodness it wasn't a shark...!

  4. +JMJ+

How's this . . . Some friends of mine live in a haunted house. One evening, one girl heard her sister call her from downstairs: "Mom has just come back with the groceries! Come down and help us put them away." So she went downstairs and headed straight for the kitchen . . . and when she got there, it was dark and nobody was there!

Then she heard her sister's voice laugh right in her ear, as if someone were standing behind her shoulder. But still nobody was there!

That was when my friends realised their poltergeist--otherwise pretty harmless--had a real gift for mimicry. =P

  5. Wasps... I think its more the sound they make that freaks me out for some reason! Anyways I hate them so much, and can't stand to be anywhere near one.

    Thank you!

  6. You know those shows on Discovery Channel like the Haunting or this other show that was basically reenactments of paranormal beings? Yeah, those scare the crap out of me. And I can't stop watching them haha.

  7. Gas masks. There was this episode of Doctor Who. Creeped the hell out of me. I had nightmares for two years...

  8. Spiders. I know it's stupid to be afraid of something that's so much smaller than you, but I just can't help it. They freak me out to the point that I jump up on the couch at the sight of a teeny tiny one. LOL

  10. OK that might sound weird i'm a bit afraid of kids who look all innocent. And when you turn your back you are dead. I know..weird..
Actually i have made a related piece of work for exactly the same question to a contest. Here:

  11. well, i'm scared for stay alone ): i feel like if demons are looking me.

  12. Samara from The Ring! She scares me a lot! When I first watched that movie I couldn't sleep for 7 days!

  13. Hm... I would have to say ghosts!

  14. I'm scared of fire! I'm always afraid that a candle will get knocked over, or an ember from the fireplace will hit something and the whole house will go up in flames!

    365DaysReading at gmail dot com

  15. Fire. I don't know what it is with fire, when it's at a safe distance I can fall in love with it, just stare the night away looking at those flames. But most of the time I don't like it. It can spread easily, the smoke can kill you before the flames can. I don't use candles often, or at all if I can avoid it.
And those romantic scenes in movies where the girl is taken into a room full of candles? That's probably as un-romantic as it can get for me.

  16. I hate spiders and snakes.

    smccar1 at hotmail dot com

  17. Dream: I was in a sort of clinic, my teeth were falling out and someone wanted to sow my mouth shut to keep them in. My hands were sown to my wrists, and everyone was wearing white, either lab coats, or shirts, etc. I only remember the colors white, black stitches, and gray/steel instruments. Scary dream...

  18. Porcelain dolls scare me to this day! When I was 6 or 7 I was at my friend's house and she was watching this scary movie about demonic porcelain dolls. They kept killing the people in the house and then turned some of the people into dolls. Creepy!!

  19. A lot of things scare me. I'm terrified of snake because I was bitten by one when I was little. I'm also super creeped out by ghosts and porcelain dolls. It makes the fact that I'm about to read Bad Girls Don't Die even more crazy...

  20. I know this sounds weird, but I have a phobia of being chased. I realize that not many people LIKE being chanced, but I am a freak about it. If someone is walking to fast behind me I will freak out and have to let them pass. My friends make fun of me because I make them go up the stairs before me. Once I was riding my bike to my friends house at night, it was fall so I heard leaves crunching. I got scared and got a huge adrenaline rush, I peddled so fast to her house that my legs wouldn't work when I got off the bike. I tried to step off and fell.

  21. I am soooooo scared of spiders. I can't even look at a picture of them without feeling like there is something crawling on me for the rest of the day

  22. Spiders and house fires. I love most fire, but after a very unfortunate incident when I was young...

  23. I'm so scared of unleashed dogs. It started when I got bitten by a dog when I was a kid. Snakes, ghosts, and thunder scare me too.

  24. Clowns, thunder and sharks! The big 3!

  25. My story is getting old but it still freaks me out until now. This is dream that happened seven years ago, by the way.

I was in the kitchen with a little blonde girl. She was soaking wet and she was asking for my help. My family was in the living room watching TV and only I knew that there was a girl in the house. So, she was asking for my help and I could fully understand her which was weird because she said the word "help" many times in different languages and then when I approached her, she stopped saying "help" and just stared at me and then she just started laughing. I was so terrified in that dream. I tried shouting for help since my family was just in the living room but my voice wouldn't come out. What was more terrifying is that her face was so clear and I can still remember how she looked like.

  26. I'm scared to go into a dark basement by myself. I always imagine something is going to jump out at me from the shadows.

  27. I'm terrified of spiders, have been ever since I was a little girl when one crawled up my dress...that could also be why I'm not a big dress fan lol

Thanks for the Secondhand Saturday :D

  28. Something that really scares me iswhen people say that they don't like reading books. Just typing it makes me cringe.

  29. I'm scared of the dark, because you never know what kind of monsters are hiding there, human or otherwise.

  30. Care To Take A Dare?
    A story
    By Louisse Ang
It had been a dare, an incredibly stupid and reckless dare. I knew shouldn't have done it but what was I supposed to do? Chicken out? No way! Plus, Sarah was there. Sarah Fay the girl I've been crushing on since 3rd grade. "Dude, are you going in or what?" Wesley's annoying voice broke my thoughts. "Uhh... I'm going in." I muttered. Just as I was about to enter the broken down path I felt someone grab my arm. I looked up to see Sarah's worried expression. "Be careful." I looked away to hide the color rushing to my cheeks. "I'll be fine." I pulled away and walked down the path.
I came face to face with the huge double-doors of the Langley Manor. The heavy serpent-like knocker seemed to slither on the doors. I grasped the door-knob and felt a chill creep up my spine. I pressed on it and entered the infamous Langley Manor.
Okay. I didn't know what to expect. But it wasn't this. The house was all old but not a single dust-mote in sight. I wasn't impressed, I had thought that I would run screaming just entering the place. I ran my fingers along the tattered wallpaper and entered the kitchen. I was about to open the ancient refrigerator when I heard a ball bounce down the stairs. I ran to the foot of the stairs and squinted my eyes. My ears had not failed me, it was a ball. A clear white ball. I picked it up and clambered up the stairs, ball in hand.
I heard a distant cry and checked each room for those muffled cries. The rooms were nothing but ordinary. But there was once with a skeleton in it. Nothing scary.
I stood outside the last door and careful twisted the cool knob. The cries seemed to be loudest here. I shivered as I entered the room still clutching the ball. The room was dark. Very, very dark. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and used it as a substitute flashlight. I groped the walls trying to find the light switched. When I finally had it in my grasp I flicked it. Nothing happened, I sighed and edged toward the windows. I threw the curtains away, revealing a beautiful full moon. I muffled at the corner if the room caught my attention. I gripped the ball tighter ready to throw it at the person's face.
I glanced down at the hunched figure facing the wall. Crying. I realized it was a little girl, this must've been her ball. I coughed. "Are you okay, little girl?" She continue to cry. "My mommy said she wouldn't leave me."
"I'm sure she'll come back." She looked up at me and I almost stumbled. Her eyes. Her eyes were two empty sockets, void of anything. "My mommy said she wouldn't leave me!" Her eyes filled with blazing flames and her teeth elongated into needle-like spikes. I turned Corbett door. But I was too late, her arm had already shot out and grabbed my leg. "DON'T LEAVE ME!" She shrieked at me. She bit my leg with her sharp teeth and clung to me like a leech. I cried out in pain. I tried kicking her away but she seemed to cling harder. I dragged myself to stairs and swung my foot. I threw the ball at her causing her to lose balance. I kicked her down the stairs and ran.
I must've tripped over my feet because the last thing I remember is seeing the little girl's face her sharp needle-like teeth formed into a grin...
I felt a sharp sting on my cheek. "Dude, you okay?" I opened my eyes to see Wesley and Sarah staring down at me. "I think I pissed myself." I muttered and for the second time that night, I fainted.

  31. woops, commented in the older post, sorry

I'm actually really afraid of heights, so high-altitude theme park things (rollercoasters, ferris wheels sometimes) scare me
that and cockroach nests, because if you squash them, there's a chance their eggs will survive on your shoes XP

  32. im really afraid of ghosts and the dark.

    jessica b

  33. Im really scared of bugs like really bedbugs lice things like that. that scares me.

  37. I'm afraid of dying... Early.

  38. I'm scared of a world without books.

  39. I'm scared of violent people, especially if they're drunk, because they're unpredictable then. Once, when I was riding in a bus, there was this really drunk, dirty and bloody man, who for some reason didn't like one of the passengers who was sitting right next to me. He called her abusive words and then suddenly jumped at her. Luckily, the other people held him off, but I was so scared that I got off at the next stop even if it wasn't mine yet.

I'm also afraid of fire starting at my home and destroying all my books and other things.

  40. I'm scared of the unknown! Like space and stuff... Stupid I know but that's my fear!

  41. I'm terrified of the darkness, I'm 17 years old and I'm not ashamed of saying it, okay maybe I am a bit, but I'm growing out of it and I'm mostly terrified because I start imagining assassins are waiting for me and kill me.

    Thanks for another awesome giveaway!

  42. I am scared of see-through people --- you know, the ghosts on TV that they make on shows like Unsolved Mysteries and stuff.

    Emily ebdye1(at)gmail(dot)com

  43. It used to be that I was afraid of spiders but I got over that, they still creep me out but not as much. As far as actually scaring me: SNAKES. I don't know why they just majorly creep me out.

  44. I'm afraid of ghosts!

  45. I am scared of bugs, they totally creep me out!

  46. This is a true story.

Every year, during All Souls Day, local TV channels have special episodes about true ghost stories and other supernatural beings (My country is like a home to weird supernatural/mythical creatures. Like Manananggal, Aswang and Mangkukulam) I am easily freaked about by ghost stories but because I was already a "grown-up," I decided that I wasn't supposed to get scared by such stories. And so, I told myself I wasn't scared and acted like it - even bragged about it.

2 minutes after I said that, it was already around 7pm, I decided to go to my sister's house. When I passed by my neighbor's window, (it was open) I saw a shadow - a very solid, dark shadow - shaped like a human. At first, I just stared at it, wondering what a dark coat it was. But then I noticed that it had hair - afro-ish hair which was also dark - and I noticed that the wall at the back of the "coat" was illuminated by their aquarium's light (blue and pink). I thought that it was very odd because last time I went to their house, the aquarium was on the other side of the wall. So, that "coat" should've been illuminated as well but it was just... black. By the time I got to my senses, I ran as fast as I could to my sister's house and the spent the night there.

After that, I told myself to never, ever brag about how brave I am when in reality, I am scared to the bones. Until now, I still refuse to believe that that "coat" was a ghost but just this year, my English teacher was telling us stories about ghosts, that she'd seen a lot and most of them didn't have faces, they didn't wear white dresses - they were just dark shadows.

    It was very, very creepy.

  47. I really don't like being in deserted bathrooms, especially those with dim lights and rows of cubicles. Ack.

I heard this story when I was in high school because goodness, urban legends are the first thing I heard when I entered. The school was formerly ran by a congregation of nuns, so stories are mostly about ghosts or spirits of nun haunting the school grounds.

One story in particular tells an encounter of a student who went into one of the lavatories in school. She felt an eerie presence while inside. Then she felt as if there was a sudden weight on her. But she doesn't believe in the supernatural. So she dismissed the feeling as nothing more than her imagination playing tricks on her.

After some days, she still feels a bit weird. Not to mention the shoulder ache she has been enduring since that incident in the bathroom. She blamed the stress at school for making her all psychosomatic.

When she went to a chiropractor to have her back checked, one of the patients warily approached her and asked her to seek help with a priest. Perplexed, she asked the old lady why would she do that. Then the lady said, "there's a nun clinging on your back."

Ack. I never went in that bathroom alone. That's just one story from that bathroom. There's more and there are other stories about the other lavatories. *rrrr*

  48. i'm really scared of ghosts. I can't watch a tv show with those idiots ghost haunters, because i think they are too idiots for not finding anything u_u
When i was 8 yrs old, i woke up 4 a.m and i couldn't sleep anymore, because i kept hearing a noise outside of my house, which sounded like someone hiting my window with stones. I looked outside, and I SWEAR! I saw someone with a bright blonde hair standing outsite! And it is impossible, because i have 3 dogs, and believe me, they would bite, if this person had flesh ._.

  49. I'm scared of my kids having cavitities and having to pay for all that dental work

I'm scared of being in dark places and in parking lot late at night.

  50. Okay, this one's kind of gross, but it scares the bejeebus out of me.

There was a couple in Scotland who had just moved into an old castle. It wasn't long before they decided to empty out the wine cellar. They found a large barrel of brandy. They tried moving it and even got a few friends to help, but they couldn't budge it. In the end, they decided to have a housewarming party and give glasses of brandy out to empty the barrel and make it easier to move. A few days after the party, they went into the cellar and tried to move the barrel again. It still wouldn't move. The husband got his saw in order to cut it into smaller pieces and they cut off the top of the barrel. Inside was a dead body and they had drank the brandy that had preserved it.

  51. If I had to pick something that scares me, it would have to be serial killers. Weird, I know, but the thought of someone that repeatable kills and gets away with it for a while is kind of scary to me. I guess I watched too many episodes of Criminal Minds. ^_^
