Movie News: The Invention of Hugo Cabret

Thanksgiving release for Martin Scorsese's Hugo Cabret!

Paramount Pictures has stepped up to become the distributor of the Martin Scorsese-directed 3D film Hugo Cabret, with the studio locking a November 23 release date, the day before Thanksgiving. The adaptation of the Brian Selznick novel is produced and financed by GK Films and Graham King felt strongly that the five-day Thanksgiving holiday was the optimum time for the picture to open. Hugo Cabret was originally slated to be distributed by Sony Pictures, under GK Films' output deal. Sony had the film originally scheduled for a December 9 release and when the studio couldn't provide the requested Thanksgiving date, Sony Pictures agreed to let GK Films move the picture.

This book is so fantastic.  I just really loved it!  I can't wait to see how they bring it to the big screen.  I know I sometimes have issues with book-to-movies (except I Am Number Four which was awesome, review), but I really think this one has some serious potential!  If you haven't heard already, the cast includes Asa Butterfield, Chloe Moretz, Sacha Baron Cohen, Ben Kingsley, Jude Law (sigh) and Emily MortimerActually, that's who the cast includes, whether you've heard or not.  :P

Wow, that is quite a cast!!  Have you read/look at this book?  What do you think of their picks?  We're excited for this one!!

  1. Really? I had no idea that they were making a movie. That's so exciting...I loved this book. I hope they hold true to the story. Also, part of the magic was the way the pictures told the are they going to transfer that to a movie? Can't wait to see this one!

  2. I was wondering the same thing about the pictures. I wonder what they'll do. It'll be really interesting to see!

  3. I don't know this book but I love Ben Kingsley. Every time I see him I think about that movie Tuck Everlasting, so beautiful!

  4. Wow, this will be quite the cinematic challenge, however, if Scorsese is able to pull it off - it will also be cinematic GENIUS!

I love the cast! I especially love Ben Kingsley; for me, he's the kind of actor that can almost do no wrong! He may have been in some bad movies, but he always does his character's justice! Also, HUGE fan of Chloe Moretz - this little girl packs a punch in her acting. Loved her in almost everything she's done, from (500) Days of Summer, to Kick-Ass, to "Let Me In" (I particularly liked that one!).

I'm definitely looking forward to it - thanks for the news/update! :)
