  4. I would love to see the Fablehaven Series on the big screen. The only downside, is that they would probably ruin it :(

  5. I would like to see In Death series on screen XD
That would be so great *3*

  6. I'd like to see the Pellinor series and Unwind. As for the cast, I'd have to think on that... unknowns would probably be best.

  7. I would love to see Sweep series on the big screen. it would be interesting to see how they bring book 15 to life.

  8. As far as a YA book goes, I'd love to see Andrea Cremer's Nightshade become a movie.

Adult fiction, definitely Outlander by Diana Gabaldon.

I'm going to be a contrarian here and say that I don't want to see any more books made into movies, for two reasons:

First, Hollywood has been relying heavily on sequels, reboots and adaptations for years. What I'd really like to see is something creative--something that wasn't anything else before it became a film.

Second, I like the idea of books being allowed to take on a life of their own in readers' imagination--and even the collective cultural imagination--before we impress everyone with a very definite interpretation of it that might put a "creative" twist on the source material. And I'm cynical about books becoming movies so soon after they become best-sellers. Hollywood could be a bit more subtle about the desire to make a quick buck rather than a classic, I think!

I hope this wasn't a wet blanket. This week's question was great. =)

  11. The Sky is Everywhere... but that is my answer for everything.

I would also love to see a Fae series, like the Iron series, or the Wondrous Strange series be put to action.

  12. I'm with Enbrethiliel on that: no more movies ruining books please! And may the ones coming (Hunger Games, Vampire Academy and Mortal Instruments) be well done movies. But if I could choose some actor for playing Dimitri on Vampire Academy would be Ben Barnes! :)

PS: this question reminded me of a t-shirt I saw with the message "Movies: ruining the book since 1920"!

  13. Hi! Following from bloghop...would love to have you return the favor:)

  14. I think it's weird when series become movies, so some stand alone books I've read recently that would make good movies include Brenna Yovanoff's The Replacement, Mindi Scott's Freefall, or Rachel Cohn & David Levithan's Dash & Lily's Book of Dares. I could so see Dash & Lily as a Christmas/holiday movie for teens highlighting Christmas in New York. :)

  15. I'd love to see The Wolves of the Mercy Falls series and/or Vampire Academy series on the big screen!

  16. Of course my Fav is already coming out. City of Bones. I would love to see the brothers from blackdagger make an appearance of course it would be rated R

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'd love to see Jeanine Frost's Night Huntress Series become a movie. Though I think I would be very difficult to find someone as attractive as Bones.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I would like to see some more fantasy movies, particularly ones with fairies. Such as Frewin Jone's The Faerie Path or maybe Julie Kagawa's The Iron Fey series.

As for casting, let's see some new talent and widen the acting pool! After a while, I get tired of seeing the same people playing the same types of roles.

  19. I would love to see Neil Gaiman's Sandman series become a movie.

  20. I would like to see the wolves of Mercy Falls Series. Although like others have said, I think the book is ALWAYS better than the movie.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Geez, there's a million I'd love to see on TV. XD But I think I'd love Vampire Academy and Mortal Instruments on the big screen. Though, actually, both are in the process (which is awesome)!

  22. I'm having a tough time choosing between Nightshade and Personal Demons. If I have to pick one, I would go with Nightshade by Andrea Creamer. I LOVE the book. I think it would definitely be a great movie. We've seen vampire movies, now it's time for werewolves!!!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I think that Nightshade would make a really cool movie. I would love the special effects for shifting. No idea who would be beautiful enough to play Calla.

    ReplyDelete
  24. I would love to see going to far by Jennifer Echols as a film because I love that book! That cute blonde guy from glee can be John!

    ReplyDelete
  25. They are already doing 13 reasons why.

So I would love to see Hex Hall as a movie. Cast wise, I have no idea LOL!

  27. So many great books out there that could be movies--I have quite a few.

    "The Giver," Lois Lowry
"Yankee Girl," by Mary Ann Rodman
    "Selling Hope," by Kristen Tubb
"Walk Two Moons," by Sharon Creech

I know they made a B-movie out of Madeline L'Engel's, "A Wrinkle in Time," but not good enough. They need to redo it with 2011 technology. Casting, I'm not familiar enough with the young stars to know who to play Meg or Charles Wallace, but they could cast some great witches in Carol Burnett, Shirley McLane, or Jane Fonda.

Please forgive me for posting the blog. I misread.

  28. ENDER'S GAME BY ORSON SCOTT CARD!!!! I love this book. This has been my favorite sci-fi since I read it in 8th grade. I have subsequently read is 15 times since, maybe more.

I feel like it will finally be done justice now that we have such amazing special effects to match Card's amazing imagination!

No casting suggestions except PICK AN UNKNOWN!!! I don't want to see them turn Ender into some Hollywood heartthrob. He is a badass little kid and should stay that way!

  29. I would love to see the Faeriewalker series being made into a movie. Keen to see how hollywood would produce, a modern avalon where humans and faeries can co-exist ;)

  30. I'm still hoping to see Maximum Ride series by James Patterson on the big or small screen. and Scott Westerfeld's Uglies - they were supposed to be made into movies, but then the economic crisis came...:(
All the other ones that I like (Fallen, Linger and VA series) are already being made into movies, yay!
I try not to think about casting though, as I don't want to be disappointed about it when the movies are finally made, so I'll let them surprise me:)

    ReplyDelete
  31. I would love to see Leviathan by Scott Westerfeld as a film if it could be done properly. Unfortunately there aren't that many films based on books that I actually like because they tend to ruin it.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Eli Squared,

Ender's Game was an exciting book, but you will probably never see it as a movie because Orson Scott Card has ticked off too many people with his total lack of tolerance to gays. He has made his conservative views quite well known to the point of offending many people with blunt and disgusting bigotry. His books won't survive the liberal Hollywood environment because the people in charge of making movies can't stand him as a person!

  37. I would love to see Academy 7 by Anne Osterlund as a movie. I'm not sure about characters, but sometimes it's more fun to see no-names play the big parts.

  38. Well the book I'd love to be turned into a movie already is going to be made - The Hunger Games...but other than that maybe Heavenly. Not sure about about casting for Hunger Games though....

  40. I would love the In Death series by JD Robb to become a movie, a tv series would be even better. As for casting? Everytime I see Stana Katic of Castle (tv show), I picture her as Eve.
