There are many things that Annah would like to forget: the look on her sister's face when she and Elias left her behind in the Forest of Hands and Teeth, her first glimpse of the horde as they found their way to the Dark City, the sear of the barbed wire that would scar her for life. But most of all, Annah would like to forget the morning Elias left her for the Recruiters.

Annah's world stopped that day and she's been waiting for him to come home ever since. Without him, her life doesn't feel much different from that of the dead that roam the wasted city around her. Then she meets Catcher and everything feels alive again.

Except, Catcher has his own secrets -- dark, terrifying truths that link him to a past Annah's longed to forget, and to a future too deadly to consider. And now it's up to Annah -- can she continue to live in a world drenched in the blood of the living? Or is death the only escape from the Return's destruction?

My review:
After reading this book I was speechless.
The entire Forest Of Hands and Teeth trilogy are some of my favorite
books I've read this year so far.
Since I'm reviewing all three of these books back-to-back I'm going to try real hard to
repeat anything I've said.
I really love how Carrie Ryan makes her characters so strong.
The girls in her books kick serious butt, and they will do anything to survive.
It's rare to find a book where authors don't make the girls look like helpless wimps.
I know a lot of people didn't enjoy this book as much as the others, but
I absolutely loved it!
I tell pretty much everyone to read it because it was just so amazing.

  1. I've only read the first one so far, but I went to see Carrie Ryan speak at a bookstore a couple weeks ago, so I bought the second one and got it signed. Can't wait to dig in! And now you've got me itching for the third one too. Thanks!

  2. The whole trilogy = <3 <3 <3
The Dark and Hollow Places is my favorite.
I totally agree with the strong female characters, they're awesome!
