It could happen tomorrow...

A cataclysmic event. An army of "The Changed."
Can one teen really survive on her own?

An electromagnetic pulse sweeps through the sky, destroying every electronic device and killing billions. For those spared, it's a question of who can be trusted and who is no longer human...

Desperate to find out what happened and to avoid the Changed, Alex meets up with Tom---a young army veteran---and Ellie, a young girl whose grandfather was killed by the electromagnetic pulse.

This improvised family will have to use every ounce of courage they have just to survive.

My thoughts:
I have no words to express how much I freaking loved Ashes.
From the moment I started reading it I was sucked into the story.
And it just continued to get better from there.
Wait. No.
It got incredible from the first page.
I practically inhaled Ashes.
Everything about it was perfect.
I must say, I was not expecting there to be zombies in this book.
But when I flipped the page and was pleasantly surprised to find some awesome zombies,
I seriously got so excited.
But let me explain myself before you think I'm psycho for liking flesh-eating teenagers;
It is very difficult to find a good zombie read.
Most of them are dumb and the zombies aren't even creepy.
But Ashes creeped me out like crazy.
I would stay up until 3AM because I couldn't get enough of it.
And well, honestly because I couldn't sleep,  yeah, it was that creepy.
The way Ilsa J. Bick developed the characters was great.
I fell in love with Tom!
I just wanted to eat him up (not zombie-style).
So I guess you could say that Tom was my favorite character :)

The ending of Ashes was wrapped up very nicely.
And I can't freaking wait for the sequel!

  7. Ashes is an intense, engrossing book that keeps the reader guessing, isn't conventional in storyline, and I highly recommend it.
