Second Hand Saturday 12/10/2011

Welcome to Second Hand Saturday!
In an attempt to clear our bookshelves, and pass on great used books to our stalkers followers, Amy, Kit, Abigaile, Austin and I have decided to hold weekly giveaways of some of the books on our bookshelves! Every Saturday, we will post the books available, and the following Saturday, we will announce the winner and our next challenge. The winner will get to choose a book from the list and we will ship it to that lucky person! Each week we will have a different challenge to complete.

This Week's Challange

This Thursday, Amy, Kit, Abigaile and I (Andye) went to the Cassandra Clare/Michelle Hodkin signing.  It was a blast seeing both of them again, and getting to chat a little.  Tell us about an author you've met, or one you'd like to meet!

  46. Oh, man... I would love to meet any popular YA authors! Unfortunately, I live in rural NW Florida where that opportunity doesn't happen. Big time authors don't come my way. The closest they stop is Birmingham, AL or New Orleans, LA, which is a five hour drive away and not economical for me. So, I have to get my kicks from you awesome bloggers!

  50. Hi,

For me a signing session was an impossibility. I mean how many US and canadian writers come in Europe to sign their books...and in Belgium even less.
So when i learned this year that Patricia Briggs was coming i couldn't believe it and it was just on time for my birthday too. I was jumping everywhere so my mother agreed that it was my birthday gift and took the trein ticket and we went together.(2hours by trein since it wasn't in the capital)

It wasn't what i was expecting, i mean i saw so many blogpost about signing session that i was dreaming of something else like free bookmarks, small gifts, contests or giveaway etc. For that aspect i was really really disappointed, first of all it was said we could come with our books ( since it was only in one place, one day we could come with books bought elsewhere and before)that was refused so many who had all the books were obligated to buy one again (fortunately it wasn't my case because i was the first one so they didn't react)next, nothing special was given to us as a memory. And...Kelley Armstrong was there too but we could only have one book signed so we had to choose with author to ask i thought it was really sad because Patricia Briggrs has just a new release at that occasion but not Kelley so for the one obligated to buy a book they took the one they didn't have so Kelley was less demanded ( unjust) i thought i could have several book signed like in the blogpost but no.
My mother took pity on my and went to Kelley Armstrong with one of my book so i could go speack to Patricia Briggs. She was really kind and she answered me... i was more than happy to learn that were was going going to be a sequel to the Hob's bargain ( even without a specific date).

It was worth the 3 hours of waiting but i still have a feeling of something missing but at least i've two signed books ( not common here ^^;;)and one from my top favorite author. A good birthday.

Now i really would like to meet more author like Richelle mead, Jeaniene Frost or Nalini Singh but i know i will have to be very very patient to get an occasion like that again

    thanks you for this giveaway
