In My Mailbox & Second Hand Saturday 1/7/2012

In an attempt to clear our bookshelves, and pass on great used books to our stalkers followers, Amy, Kit, Abigaile, Austin and I have decided to hold weekly giveaways of some of the books on our bookshelves! Every Saturday, we will post the books available, and the following Saturday, we will announce the winner and our next challenge. This Week's Question:
Did you make any New Year's Resolutions?  Have you kept them so far?

And this week's winner is...

  1. I did not make any new year's resolutions. I never do, really, because if I want to change something I can do it anytime. Resolutions are too easy to break!

  2. I am going to lose 20 pounds...I guess I better get busy!

  3. I have a rather ambitious list of resolutions, and I intend to keep every one of them this year. These are the types of things on my list of resolutions: be a more proactive blogger, read every day even if it's just a few pages, and find a new job! Oh, also, drink more tea!

  4. Yeah, I made 6, but I only made them late yesterday, so I haven't actually gotten around to really doing any, except the first one, which is just read, which I'm doing plenty of!! :) Yep :)

  5. My New Year's resolutions is always to make no resolutions. I make them. I break them. Better to just make life changes along the way.

  6. I used to make NY resolutions, but I never stuck to them past a couple of weeks. So I don't do them anymore.

Thanks for another great SHS giveaway, and lovely book haul as always. ;)

  7. I didn't make New Year Resolutions until this year. I don't think New Year is the only day to make such resolutions. ;) Anyway, mine this year is easy... be a blessing to others. I've been having fun so far with it.

  8. I've made 3 resolutions :
. Lose weight and live a healthier lifestyle -- I'm taking baby steps on this one by drinking more water and less soda.

. Keep up with housework/paperwork -- doing better with getting dishes done before they pile up and filing/recycling paper as soon as I get the mail.

. Making a dent in reading pile -- no progress ;(

  9. I haven't made any resolutions because I don't seem to keep them. Though I do need to lose some weight and stay more committed to the goal. Thanks for the giveaway.

  15. My first New Year's resolution was to keep reading books and get them away from my house - so far it's going well:)
I've also decided to get some new ones that have been sitting on my wishlist for ages, but I haven't done that yet. There's still time though:)

  20. I don't believe in New Year's resolutions. Can't we just try to better ourselves at any point in the year? Why do we have to make fake promises we know we won't keep just because it's a new year?

  21. I did make an important resolutions this year: Do not drink to much Coca-Cola, so far I have only drink Pepsi haha :3

  22. I made a few resolutions this year, but none are very large nor are they too demanding. My goals are to read and write everyday, and eat healthier. Hopefully, by not placing too many restrictions on myself I will be successful!

  23. Made a bunch of long-term ones that I've kept saying I'll "get around to" that I never have yet. So I figured if I wrote them all out, I'd have a better shot at remembering to do them and getting around to them. Most importantly, I want to keep up with my BFF who's gone away to college and type up all my work that I only have handwritten.

  36. Mine is to save up enough money to go on a vacation this year. The only things I have done to help so far is not eating out and using coupons when I can. I hope it helps!

  37. Yup, it's the same every year - to get rid of the habit of biting my nails.
So far it's working, but it never lasts long. (Hence why it's the same resolution every year)

  38. I made no resolutions this year. However, I did last year. It was to tone up in the areas where I had lost weight. I didn't get anywhere near where I wanted, but maybe this year will be different.

  39. Great idea! I did not make any resolutions because I don't keep them. I just try to make changes/goals during the year instead!

  40. I always make resolutions, and hardly ever keep them.. This year (as usual) my main one is to lose weight.. I'd like to lose at least 70 lbs! I haven't actually done much yet to reach my goal, but have decided I am ready to be the thin person I once was, and really am on the inside! I have inquired into a new gym I just found out about that's only about 5 mins away from my house, can't imagine any excuses I could come up with to shrug that off! Plus, I am starting to cut my food intake, amounts and type. I'm ready this year to really do it and hope I can obtain this goal once and for all!

  41. My New Year's Resolution was to stop cracking my knuckles and to spend more time with my family. I've only succeeded in the latter. :/ haha

  42. This year my news years resolution was to reduce the pile of books on my shelf by at least half. I'm one of those people who keeps buying loads of books and don't finish the ones that I have at home, its been working so far as I haven't brought any new books, but I keep getting distracted by library books instead!
