What Do You Think? Taylor Swift's New Hunger Games Video

So, I was watching Taylor Swift's new music video for The Hunger Games called 'Safe and Sound' and I couldn't decide what I thought of it.

According to MTV, Taylor said, "'When I got the call, I thought from what I'd heard about the movie, 'It's an action movie, right? We're probably going to be writing a song that's like, "We're going to win!" ' And then I read the book,
and I thought, 'No, we're going to have to write sort of a death lullaby, it's so different from what I thought.' "

I'm not sure though.  I feel like it needs to be sad, but also kind of fierce, if that makes sense.  Of course there will be other songs in the movie, and maybe they'll all fit together and be perfect.  Also, will they add clips of the movie later?  Anyway, I thought I'd see what you think of it.

Here's the full official line up for the soundtrack:

Let me know what you think in the comments!  Whose song(s) are you most excited about?  (P.S.  I can't believe the movie is SO CLOSE!!)

  1. AWESOME video! I can't believe tickets for the movie actually go on sale tomorrow!!

  2. I liked the song, but I bet they will add movie scenes when they release it. They show a lot of open spots of the sky and landscape, or atleast they should. I love Taylor Swifts music anyway. I am also loving the Civil Wars and looking forward to the Miranda Lambert song.
Very excited for the movie to come out.

  3. I'm probably biased because I am a fan of Taylor Swift but I did like the song. It made me think of when Katniss was taking care of Peeta after he had been injured. I am looking forward to the movie.

  4. I like the song, but the video seems to be about Taylor Swift and not so much the Hunger Games. So I hope they change it once the movie is out... Of course anything Maroon 5 has to be great and Jaymee Dee is really good, so it'll be interesting to hear her song. I'm excited for the entire album...and the movie...

  5. I love Taylor, John Paul and Joy. I also adore this song, but seeing the video I thought "I know that it makes no sense- they need buzz now- but that would have been the perfect song to play over Katniss and Prim in the bunker during the bombings in MJ!"

  6. This song makes me think it'll be toward the beginning of the movie. It sounds like something Katniss would sing to Prim to make her feel better about the the reaping the next day or maybe after the reaping when Katniss takes Prim's place. The song is definitely sad. I can't wait to see the movie, but I'm dreading it too. I'm going to cry my eyes out!

  7. Um, I don't like this video at all. It seems pointless to me. They show one little pendant that has to do with The Hunger Games and that's it? And I don't like the way Taylor is singing. I can barely understand her :-( I don't really like it...

  8. Love the song a lot more than the video!

  9. absolutely amazing... i could do without it though

  10. I tend NOT to hear the soundtrack before I've watched the film. If I do I end up going "I know that song!" in my head, constantly throughout the film (which I will probably end up doing with Taylor's song now *slaps forehead*). If there's a song that sticks out for me during the film I come home and check it out.
Taylor's song doesn't link to THG for me at all. I guess there's some similarity to the song Katniss sings when *ahem* is dying in her arms, but I do need a more upbeat song. I'm sure some of the others will be, but since I've only heard Taylor's one now I can say that I'm not a huge fan of it. I don't get the video, is there even a POINT in making a video like that? o_O

  11. Oh I actually really like the song (and video). I wasn't sure I would, but it's kind of haunting. I can't wait for the rest of the soundtrack!

  12. I like the song, but I don't think it's Swift's best. I do love the video though. Such a pretty setting.

  13. I really love the song - I agree with Chloe that it's haunting. I'm not sure what I make of the video yet, but I've watched it several times. I just feel like it captures a tone of the books for me. Not every tone, but A tone (if that makes sense). The song gives me a lot of the emotions I felt while reading.

  14. I love that song. I listen to it all the time. There is a gentle and calm. Ideally suited to the film ;)

  15. I love the song but I really, really hope they put some clips from the movie in the video! I think that would add something to it that it's missing. I do like the song itself, though :)
