Will Elise’s love life be an epic win or an epic fail?

At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Case in point:

As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school—not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.

As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn’t exactly on everyone’s must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.

When Elise’s beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince’s best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long.

My Review:

Can I just say I absolutely loved this book???  I can't even remember the last time I finished a book in less than a day, let alone less than 10 hours during the school year.  Yeah, it's that good.  I was cracking up while reading it.  Out loud.  Completely embarrassing, but totally worth it.  It's definitely the funniest and cutest book I've read in a very long time.  I genuinely loved every character, even the background characters they were all so developed that I instantly adored each of them.  I also liked the fact that Elise didn't just suddenly "fall" for Derek because he was insanely famous.  She actually wanted to not like him for that reason, but she quickly learns that first-impressions are often very, very wrong.  I loved relating to every choice Elise made, living in her shoes, falling in love alongside of her, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this book to anyone who loves a good Chick-Lit read!!  Please, please go read it right now!!

  • Sexual content: Moderate
  • Profanity: Heavy
  • Violence: None
  • Other: They go to a party where alcohol is not allowed to be served, but a guy mentions he could ask around and find them some if they want it, they don't.  Also, some mention of background characters drinking and doing drugs.

  1. I do love a good story about misunderstandings leading to love. Looks like a good read!

    Thanks for sharing your review!

  2. I hadn't heard of this one until now but it sounds great! I loved your review :)

  3. I remember reading this one a long time ago, almost a year ago. It was a good book but I had just read a book that had such a similar storyline that I thought I was re-reading a book I had just finished. I probably would have enjoyed it more had I not read two identical stories back to back.

I'm glad you had such a great time with this book though.

    Thanks for the great review!

  4. I'm glad you loved it. I did too. Thanks for sharing.

  5. I will have to get this one. I've seen it, but no reviews on it. Sounds like one I could really love!

  6. I'm trying not to order this simply because I have so many other books to get through, and I don't want just put this on a shelf when I get. It's getting hard to resist!

    Great review.

  7. This was a pretty fun read although it's not my favorite YA Austen-inspired novel. I ended up liking Prom and Prejudice by Elizabeth Eulberg more.

  8. my favorite books are:
    the healers aprentice
    between shades of gray
and other romantic historic books but this was still a good read.
