Andye's awesome review
One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

I've been thinking about what I was going to say about this book, after reading Andye's review (link up top). I mean whoa, what do you say after that! She pretty much said it all, but I will give it my best shot!

I'm always hesitant about reading a sequel, especially the second book, in the series. The second book has to be as good as the first (if not better), plus it has to set up the third book nicely, so you will be intrigued enough to keep reading the series/trilogy. I'm glad to report that Insurgent met every anticipated, anxious feeling.

Insurgent was kinda hard to follow at first, but with the help of Veronica Roth, she wrote a very useful guide that recaps everything about Divergent, on her site. After going over that, I was caught up to speed. Now, if you are reading this review and have yet to read Divergent, STOP now. Go buy the book. It is at the top of my dystopian list. If you are reading this review to see if I will give any spoilers about Insurgent, you've come to the wrong place. So here is all you need to know...
Yes, the sequel to Divergent is awesome.
Yes, Veronica Roth is tha' man (well woMAN).
Yes, Triss is just as "take care of business" as always.
Yes, Tobias/Four is the perfect boyfriend, in every way possible.
Yes, there are tons of action, romance and kissy kissy scenes.
Yes, you will want to read book 3 asap.

Well, I pretty much said the same thing as Andye, just not as classy. She always beats me to the punch!

Violence: Heavy
Profanity: Mild
Sexual: Mild to Moderate

  1. I'm glad to see so many good things said about this series. I love dystopian but was afraid it'd be a lesser Hunger Games clone. I'm glad it's able to stand on its own. I'll have to pick up the two of them this summer.

  2. This is one of those books that a non-review review is the best way! I just wanted to say, "Go read it now!" Lol!
