Second Hand Saturday 5-5-12

Welcome to Second Hand Saturday!
In an attempt to clear our bookshelves, and pass on great used books to our stalkers followers, Amy, Kit, Abigaile, Austin and I have decided to hold weekly giveaways of some of the books on our bookshelves! Every Saturday, we will post the books available, and the following Saturday, we will announce the winner and our next challenge. The winner will get to choose a book from the list and we will ship it to that lucky person! Each week we will have a different challenge to complete.

This Week's Question:

SUMMER IS UPON US!!  And I can't wait!  What is your favorite Summer Read?  I think mine would have to be Dream Factory by Brad Barkley and Heather Hepler.  It's about a group of teens who spend their summer vacation working at Disney.  SO CUTE!  You should check it out!  What's yours?

  4. I love books where I get lost in the world the author created. I think I would go with something like Divergent or Hunger Games as a fun summer read.

  5. My choice would be Divergent :) It is the best read. <3 But also Graceling :D Love them both so much.

  6. I don't really have specific summer reads. I read what I want in the summer because I wasn't able to all year round, or I finish those books I only got halfway through.

  7. My favorite summer read last year was A Great and Terribly Beauty by Libba Bray. I read all 3 books in like a week!

  10. +JMJ+

This might sound weird, but my favourite summer read is Sixth Grade Secrets by Louis Sachar, which is set during a school year and ends right before summer! =P But it's a whole lot of fun and seems to have the same magic essence you'd find in real summer-set stories . . . like the episodes of Phineas and Ferb. LOL!

(All together now! "There's 104 days of summer vacation/ And school comes along just to end it/ So the annual problem for our generation/ Is finding a good way to spend it . . .")

  11. Sixteenth Summer. I didn't like the ending too much, but the rest of the book was perfect for a summer read!

  16. hmm, tough choice. I'd say the Iron King because of the fairies and summer court. Makes me want to go out into the woods and get lost; although, I don't think I'd find anything remotely as cool as the wildwood.

  17. I would have to say the iron fey series because its the only thing I can think of that reminds me of summer!!!!

  39. I have such a great memory of reading Harry Potter number 5 the summer it came out. I had pre-ordered it from Amazon and read it on our patio while my 2 oldest children swam in their kiddie pool. It was so hot out and I just was so happy to have the long awaited book! I kept going inside and telling my husband parts of it, such as the dementors going after Dudley, Mrs. Fig knowing about magic, and Petunia's letter. What a great day, and book. Thanks for the giveaway.

  45. I just sat here racking my brain for a fun summer read and realized I don't have one. I even looked at my goodreads list, lol. This summer I do plan to catch up on a ton of reading. I also think I'm going to re-read The Hollows books.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I haven't read any summer book. Nevertheless, if I have to pick one, I will choose The Year of Secret Assignments. It does not paticularly set in summer. Yet, it's fun and makes me smile that would be a perfect read in summer.

  47. Anna and the French Kiss or The Summer I Turned Pretty.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I've re-read Pride and Prejudice every summer for years. Ella Enchanted is another that I tend to pick up for some lazy summer reading.
