Happily ever after is a thing of the past.

A series of natural disasters has decimated the earth. Cut off from the rest of the world, England is a dark place. The sun rarely shines, food is scarce, and groups of criminals roam the woods, searching for prey. The people are growing restless.

When a ruthless revolutionary sets out to overthrow the crown, he makes the royal family his first target. Blood is shed in Buckingham Palace, and only sixteen-year old Princess Eliza manages to escape. Determined to kill the man who destroyed her family, Eliza joins the enemy forces in disguise. She has nothing left to live for but revenge, until she meets someone who helps her remember how to hope-and love-once more.

Now she must risk everything to ensure that she does not become . . .

The Last Princess.

I'm starting to think post-apocalyptic and futuristic books are the best ones because I always love them so much! I read this book in a matter of hours with only a couple breaks, so it's definitely interesting and exciting all the way through.
The author really stressed the whole 'world is destroyed and dark and savage', and she really made everything sound so cool, but still realistic. I especially liked how she had the cannibal infested forests because that made it seem even more like the people were desperate and cut off from the rest of the world.
The main character, Eliza, was the coolest, bravest princess I've read about. She rose to the challenge of survival and totally kicked major butt!
     I. Love. Wesley! He was so sweet and cool and brave! He and Eliza were like, the perfect pair, but I sorta kinda predicted that they would be together as soon as he saved her that first time...
This book totally made me the most jealous person ever! I wish I would have had this idea, it's so creative and interesting and cool and dark and violent! I can't wait for the next one!
I would recommend for this book, that you are capable of handling intense awesome violence and cannibals and illnesses, because there's a lot of it, and they describe it real well too.
