The Rooftop After-Party & Giveaway!

So I (Andye) was on vacation in Florida, when I got a text from Jeremy West from Novel Thoughts, asking what I thought about throwing a party with Liza from WhoRU Blog, for YA authors and bloggers.  I have to say, I was a little overwhelmed by the thought, but said, sure, why not, figuring nothing would actually come of it anyway.  And then this happened:

Ok, it wasn't quite that quick.

There was skyping, and phone calls, and emailing, and planning, and way too much silliness, but in the end, we came up with a list of authors that we would like to be able to party with, and we sent out the invites (designed by Jeremy).

I was SO NERVOUS!!  I honestly didn't expect anyone to say yes.  But pretty soon, we started getting RSVPs from some pretty freakin' awesome people.  Next thing we knew, we were completely full, and were left worrying we'd have too many people.  How did this happen??  I don't know, but it's pretty awesome!

This is one of the incredible views from the roof.  On one side was the Hudson, on the other side was the city.  You could see the Statue of Liberty, The Empire State Building and had a fantastic view of One World Trade (The Freedom Building).  It was absolutely the best view of NYC I've ever seen!  Thank you so much to Nili, Liza's cousin, for allowing us use of this amazing building!

The food was incredible!  Liza made toothpick flags with the authors' book covers on them.  Amy made the wreath and the flowers out of pages from Wuthering Heights and Harry Potter (find out more about that here).

Then there was the party:
Abigaile, Jenny Han (Burn for Burn) & Amy
Danielle Ellison, Alex Bracken (Darkest Minds)
& Sarah J Maas (Throne of Glass)
Sarah (sweetest person ever!) & Andye
Amy & Rebecca Serle (When You Were Mine)
 Kit and Kelsey Dickson
Andye, Kit, & Rebecca Serle
Kelsey, Andye, Britta, Stacy, & Jeffrey
Amy Boggs
& Gretchen McNeil (Ten)
 Kit & Wendy Delsol (Flock)
Rebecca Serle was SO FREAKING NICE and my new favorite person.  She offered (even after I told her no) to sign all 60 copies of her book that we had as party favors.  Ah-mazing!
Susane Colasanti (Keep Holding On), Jenny Han, &
Elizabeth Eulberg (Take a Bow) Sporting their awesome
glow bracelets and crowns!
Patricia Riley, Victoria Schwab (The Near Witch),
Danielle, and Leah Clifford (A Touch Morbid)
Jeremy, Stacy, Jen, Trini♥, and Jeffrey
 Britta♥, Mitali, & Andye
Andye & Gretchen McNeil
Andye & Gennifer Albin (Crewel), you can't see the infinity scarf she has
on in this picture, but it's amazing!  It's got Pride and Prejudice quotes all over it!  AWESOME!
Kelsey, Rebecca, and Jess Rothenberg (The

Andye with Stacy and Shannan from GirlsintheStacks.com
I love them!!
Lenore Appelhans (Level 2), Shannan, Michelle & Stacy
Sarah, Jen ♥, Kat Zhang (What's Left of Me) & Stacy
Amy & Lizzi (Tom Pollock's fiance)
Shan, Liza, & Stacy

I can not even begin to tell you the amount of work that Liza put into this.  You can read all about it on her blog here.  Amy worked her butt off on the decorations & Jeremy was SO fantastic with all of his design work, including this awesome canvas that all the authors signed for us to give away that night.

I have to give an extra special shout-out to Mitali for helping set up, and to Kelsey from Reading or Breathing for all her help in getting the goodie-bags together, making an awesome playlist with songs from each of the attending authors' playlists, and helping us set up.  You are amazing and I love you!

At the end of the night we raffled off tons of prizes, including books from Harlequin Teen, Journals with all the authors books on them, signed posters, the wreath and flowers Amy made, gift cards and other goodies.  Then each guest got to take home a Figment bag with some awesome books including signed (thanks Rebecca!) copies of When You Were Mine, Burn for Burn, A Midsummer's Nightmare & others.  An extra special thanks to Simon & Schuster for all the copies of When You Were Mine and Burn for Burn!  Everyone was so grateful!

AFTER-PARTY GIVEAWAY

This is where you come in!  Each of our blogs is giving away leftover goodie bags!  The books in them vary, but every bag at least has a signed hardcover of When You Were Mine & an ARC of Burn for Burn.  After you enter here, make sure you run (or click) over to Novel Thoughts & WhoRuBlog and enter there as well!

  9. You all are just the BEST! <3 you guys so much. Here's what I wrote on my blog today about YOU - but it bears repeating here: "It took hard work, organization, learning new skills. None of us had ever worked together before, so it was a whole new level of teamwork. Honestly, it was a pleasure co-hosting with such awesome people! The enter Reading Teen family – Andye is so organized, Amy’s so incredibly gifted with her art – several people commissioned her to do projects from this. They’re kind, funny, loving, and gracious people. Kit, Austin, Abigaile worked so hard – they’re so freakin’ amazing. I love those YA! (Ask Austin – I wanted to take ‘em home!!)"
There was more about the rest of the team . . . but people will just have to read about it in my comments. :-D
