  2. To be honest, it was the summer from H*ll! ;P

We spent 6 weeks putting in a first-time organic garden, but by mid June our state was one of the severe heat/drought stricken areas with temps in the triple digits. The garden had all the growth and charm of a parking lot.

By August the weather had finally cooled (?) down to the upper 90's, so I got the bright (not) idea to get a little weeding done around the yard. Unfortunately, I wasn't bright enough to avoid poison ivy and ended up so badly broken out/allergic that I had to get a steroid shot. The poison ivy lasted 19 days. I still have faint scars.

OMG ... I have NEVER been so glad to see Autumn get here in my entire LIFE lol

  5. My summer was busy with work, work, and more work. I was teaching a children's theatre camp while working on two other theatrical productions...while also finding time to visit with my family and friends who were coming in and out of town for visits/family functions. I also started planning my wedding, which is a whole new can of worms! But I had fun and enjoy my summer for the most part! (Though I would have liked more free time to read.) :)

  6. My summer break was kind of awesome :D Was in Orlando, Florida. <3 loved it there. Kind of. Was also on a little trip to London :) Which I loved. Other than that I have just been home here in Norway. And we haven't really had any summer; been really cold and not much sun :\ still. It hasn't been all bad :) Thank you for this awesome giveaway. <3 Glad that it is back :D
    Love, Carina

  8. Well, I live on the other side of the world so summer hasnt come yet. It's been really really hectic for me because exams are coming up soon and my art deadline is in three days. I honestly can not wait for the holidays.
Thanks for the awesome giveaway :)

  15. I don't really have a summer break since I am an at home mom with my little girl, but it was a very enjoyable summer. We got to hang around outside and play and I got a lot of good reading in laying in the yard while she was in taking a nap. :)

  16. It was very relaxing and fun, until the last few weeks where i crammed all of my summer work into it lol

  17. My summer was great but far too lazy for my tastes. I wish I got more stuff done before school and work resumed in full gear. :/

  18. My summer break was nice. I work at a preschool so I got 4 days off rather than 2 since there are fewer kids in the summer! I got to do lots of reading so that's what counts :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. I have kids and am a stay at home mom, so no break.
Although we did just get back from a family vacation to Disney.

  21. My summer started out great and hey busy! Filled with vacations, weddings, anniversary parties, a vow renewal and my own ten year anniversary where my husband gave me a childhood dream and took me up in a hot air balloon andasked me to marry him....again :) things were good and then my grandpa passed away. Thre rest of the summer was pretty tough

  22. I wish I could say that my summer was awesome, but I've been stuck in a cast (thanks to a broken foot falling off a deck)all summer long :( I was hoping that it would come off at least near the end of the summer so I could enjoy a couple of weeks, but alas that was not in the cards. Looks like I'll still be in this cast for another 2 months, quite possible more as I may end up going for surgery for it! Gah summer 2012 :(

  28. Mine was amazing. Went on a cruise and to universal with the hubby. RomCon with a friend. And then off to the family cabin with the kids in tow. They went to horse camp and I got another week off. It was so awesome.

  29. It was good but short. Went to my hometown after almost 20 years and got to connect with my childhood bestie!

  30. Well, sadly I've had better summers. This one wasn't all that much fun too stressful. Too much to get done all the time and not enough time to do it in. *sigh* Here's hoping next year will be much better.

  31. I had an amazing summer...I got to spend time with all my friends and read a lot!

  32. Summer break was crazy. I was abducted by aliens, then when they finally let me go (we figured out we were related), I was sucked back through time to 17th century England (scary time...don't mess with Queen Elizabeth) where I met a handsome young duke with blonde curly hair and blue eyes. He stuttered, though, so we couldn't really get to know each other because I was perpetually not able to understand him. Than I had a dream that I was back in my good ol' 21st century time, and when I awoke, here I was. Didn't get much reading done, to say the least. =) How was YOUR summer? ;)

  33. Thanks for the giveaway! I moved over summer break, so it wasn't the most exciting this year. Then I went off to college. Plus side: I did a ton of reading.

    ReplyDelete
  34. My summer was really relaxing because I was finally able to sit down and read more than I usually could during school time and a big plus was that I was able to have lots of get-togethers with friends who I haven't been able to see since we all started going to college :) It reminded me so much of the days back in high school when we would hang out like every week.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Really good! I had the chance to read all the books I really wanted!!

    ReplyDelete
  36. It was great. I did a ton of reading and writing. It was super relaxing. I was sad to go back to work. SO SAD!

  38. Mine was great: it was pretty calm for June and August, but July was FINNICKALLY AWESOME! I flew to Chicago to visit my best friend who I haven't seen in two years, and we had the time of our lives for sixteen days. We road to Ohio, and then Pittsburgh, and then we came back and just hung out and had fun :)

  45. My summer vacation was great (always good when I can get in a visit to Disneyland and the beach!). And I got to read a bunch of amazing books, so overall it was really good, but way too short! :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. My summer vacation consisted of me sitting in front of a computer typing, volunteering, with a few outings with my friends. Plus a whole load of library visits. To me, that's a very satisfying summer break c:

  47. My summer was so crazy I thought my head would explode. So I'm the mother of a 14-year-old son (yes, I'm the one who digs YA & your blog, lol). I have never played taxi so much in a 2 month period in my whole life. I feel like the starting pistol went off the first day of summer & I didn't stop until the first day of school.
PS-there were no nice people rooting for me with water along the way either! Wah Wah...please let me win. :)

  57. Summer break was cool! I spent a week at the ocean with my family. Wish I coulda taken a friend with me, but oh well!

  58. My summer was only okay. Caught up on my reading after a very long school year and then babysat my baby sister all summer as my older sister went out with friends everyday and night to parties and movies. The highlight of my summer was going to Lifest and having fun listening to music despite having to take care of my little sister as I listened. I did get to meet Veggie tale characters there as well and they are awsome. :) That's pretty much it.

  59. I really didn't have a break since I had to work all summer. I was able to enjoy the warm weather during the evenings & weekends though.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  66. Honestly, I had a beautifully relaxing summer. The only remotely exciting thing that happened was my 30th birthday and subsequent 30th party which was fun. And you know what, I am so okay with my relaxing summer. I was able to read a ton of books, spend a lot of time with the husband and family. All in all, it was a wonderful summer! Hopefully next year, there will be a little one keeping me on my toes! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

  67. My summer was pretty good ...I wish I had gotten more lazy in though. I still slept and ate "enough" though. There definitely should have been more reading and exercising despite my want of laziness. Plus, work came all too soon when I began babysitting my (quite literally) baby sister before the start of my freshman year at high school. :] Thank you

  68. My summer break was great. I volunteered at my library and had a fun time, and I was able to read a lot of books. It went by way too quickly though!

    ReplyDelete
  69. We went to Disneyland for my daughter's fifth birthday. I know she had a blast. Other then that, swimming...lots of swimming.

    ReplyDelete
  70. After long working year I took a month of vacation. My family have a old stone house on Island at Adriatic coat, small town, clear sky with stary nights, sea is so clear and blue. You can pick a place where you want to go to sunbathing, swiming and reading books in the sun. There is a small library, small but with good books..and avialiable. It was end of summer so all turists left and it was perfect. Walks, books, sea and me and my boyfriend.

  71. Awesome list of books o.O

Summer break was long - near the end it got a bit too long for my taste, I'm glad to be back at university. I lazed around, worked, visited the fleamarket, met up with people, went to festivals. I also did an interrail trip with a friend; we travelled to Prague, Hamburg and Amsterdam on our 10-day journey :) Amazing cities! I'll have to go back at some point to spend a bit more time there, especially Prague and Hamburg!

  72. Tent camping, Busch Gardens, battleship tour, road trip, birthday. Those are the more interesting things that happened this summer.

  75. My Summer break was pretty uneventful actually. My family and I moved to a new house so we couldn't do anything extravagant. But we did celebrate 2 birthdays. Our oldest daughter turned 7 in August and our youngest daughter turned 1 in July. So that's about it... lol
    Thanks for the giveaway! ^__^

  76. Summer break was just too quick. I feel like I barely did anything all summer.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Way too fast! We did a lot of grilling which is my favorite part of summer and had a pretty good garden but i wish we would have done more outside activities!

    ReplyDelete
  78. It was lots of fun but passed too fast for me to do everything that I was planning to do!

    ReplyDelete
  79. It was just perfect! I had the opportunity to spend my summer break in Toronto, and I loved it. It was an extraordinary summer. I had so much fun that I can't wait to get back there.

    ReplyDelete
  80. That is an awesome list!
My summer was very different from previous summers! I read a ridiculous amount of books, discovered way too many good books than my shelf will ever fit!
But I also lead my youth group in a campaign that raises money to help free people from modern-day slavery. It was a challenging thing to do, since I am not overly motivated to speak to people I don't know, but I had to do a lot of that. I had to walk up to total strangers and ask them if they'd heard of modern-day slavery, then proceed with a series of other questions or statisics. More than once I got up in front of my church and gave updates on how much money we were raising, all the while shaking to death! I guess public speaking isn't really my thing... :-P But we managed to raise $130 over our inicial goal! It was crazy! Though I wouldn't say I had anything to do with that. That was all Jesus there! I was pushed out of my comfort zone so many times this summer it should be illegal! But I would never undo any of it. I left this summer changed and that is totally worth it to me! I would dare say this was the best summer ever!

But compared to school, my summer was awesome XD (I really hate school)
