Second Hand Saturday 10-27-12

Welcome to Second Hand Saturday!
In an attempt to clear our bookshelves, and pass on great used books to our stalkers followers, we have decided to hold weekly giveaways of some of the books on our bookshelves! Every Saturday, we will post the books available, and the following Saturday, we will announce the winner and our next challenge. The winner will get to choose a book from the list and we will ship it to that lucky person! Each week we will have a different challenge to complete.

This Week's Question:

Happy Halloween!!  I've decided to dress up Steampunkish this year, but I'm not exactly sure what to say I am when people ask......"Oh, I'm Steampunk!"  Yeah, that's weird.  Anyway, are you dressing up this year?  What are you going to be?  If not, what do you think it would be fun to dress up as?

Just comment below to be entered!

And this week's winner is...

Courtney Elena

Email me at Readingteen1(at)gmail.com with your book choice.  Please put "winner" in the subject line.  You have one week to claim your prize!

  1. I'm not going to dress up. But if I did I would probably be Katniss Everdeen. Being her for a night could be fun! :)

    1. Hahaha! Kimberly, I'm dressing up as the 11th Doctor! Bow tie and all! I bet you'll make a great Tennant. =)

    2. Yay! Lots of Doctor Who fans!
I was the TARDIS last year, my brother was The Doctor XD

    3. 10th Doctor, eh? That's such a cool costume idea (so is the Tardis, btw)! The first Dr. Who episode I ever saw was The Runaway Bride, which officially made me a Tennant fan (and a Dr. Who fan, of course). I always get excited when somebody says that they're going to dress up as a Dr. Who character, so when I saw your post, I just had to comment! :-D

  6. I'd love to dress up as Cinderella then I'll make all of my friends dress up as the other princesses and it'll be like the seventh birthday i never had. Or, you know, Voldemort.

  7. We don't celebrate Holloween in India, though there are many parties coming up these days!
I would love to dress up as some character from Harry Potter. Professor Snape would be cool, but seeing as I'm a girl, I would love to dress up as Bellatrix Lestrange! I love her curly hair and evil grin! :)

    1. Finally, another Bellatrix fan!!! Woo hoo!! Sorry, I just don't have any friends who are fans of her, like I am, so it's nice to see that I'm not alone! :-D

  8. It would be fun to dress up as a witch, complete with magic of course.

  9. I'm going to a Halloween Party tonight dressed as an 80's zombie! I had a lot of fun creating my costume! If Halloween isn't ruined due to the Hurricane hitting the east coast I am going as a garden fairy to bring my daughter trick or treating.

  10. Haha, just saw Kimberly's comment. Well, I'm dressing up as the 11th Doctor from Doctor Who. =) I've already tested the outfit at a costume party, and it was a hit. Can't wait to wear it again! I got the bow tie and everything...because, you know, bow ties are cool. ;)

  11. It's been a while since I dressed up. The last time I went as a gypsy. I'm from India so maybe a Bollywood actress.

  12. I think it would be awesome to be Sydney from Richelle Mead's books. I would love having that tattoo on my face, temporarily of course!

  13. My parents won't let me dress up (or go trick or treating) this year.
But if I was, I would be a hobo again XD
That was a really fun year.
I would say "spare change" instead of "trick or treat".
Some people actually gave me money!!!

  14. We don't celebrate Halloween over here, but I'd love to dress up as a vampire at least once:)

  15. I am not dressing up this year, but my 12yo is! She is going to be Isabelle Lightwood from the Mortal Instruments in full Shadowhunter "gear" - she already has the leather jacket, and a whip we are painting gold. I know no one will really know what she is, at least not until next year when the movie comes out!! Go rock some steampunk!!

  16. lol. That is hilarious. If you were dressing up for a party with a bunch of YA book lovers we would instantly understand and appreciate. :) Just the other day I found myself having to go into a lengthy explanation of steampunk. I was planning to dress historical. In much the same manner as yourself. No particular person just more a period costume. But I think my daughter has other plans in mind. She is being a fairy and has tons of extra wings. So she will likely make me add fairy wings to anything I wear. My hubby is going as wolverine. I suppose it will ruin my reputation to be seen with such a rough character. ;) Regardless we all plan to have fun and trick or treat the night away.

  17. That is really funny! Good luck trying to explain it to people.lol I'm not doing anything this year. I just got a 8 week old puppy and I'm going to spend time with her and watch tv.

  18. We don't celebrate Halloween here in Brazil (what a pity!) but I'd love to dress like Ephrielle said with a period costume, those lovely long dresses!

  19. I'm dressing up as a flapper. I love historical costumes :)

  20. I am not dressing up but my son is dressing up as the Hulk. I think historical costumes would be cool or King Arthur, Lancelot, Lady Guinevere. Thanks for the giveaway. Tore923@aol.com

  21. I have a trombone choir concert (which goes well with Halloween, because trombones are traditionally associated with death - the Underworld and funerals, etc. - so much of our music, like Beethoven's funeral piece, is rather dark), so I will be wearing my regular concert attire. We can dress up, though, so I'll probably add some type of mask or black fairy wings.

  22. I am not dressing up this year. I have to much fun getting my three kids and two dogs all dolled up. I do think it would be fun to go as Katniss and I'm only saying that because I could pull of her hair and would feel awesome carrying a bow and arrow :)

  24. As much as I would love to dress up for say a Halloween party, I don't have a reason to, so I won't be dressing up. But the costume I'd love, if I had a reason to wear one, would be a medieval style dress. :) Maybe even have a nice mask that goes with it. LOL

  26. I'm not going to be dressing up this year but it would be really really fun to dress up as the TARDIS or River Song, from Doctor Who! Now that would be out of this world! :-P

  27. I'll be wearing my mom's old harlequin (not to be confused with the AWESOME Batman character Harley Quinn) costume on Halloween this year, as well as one of her old Mardi Gras masks. I can't wait! :-D

  28. I havent shop for my costume yet but it would be lovely to dress up as Grisha this halloween!

  32. I won't be dressing up on Halloween this year, but I went to a costume party last night and I dressed up as a nerd. Didn't look too bad considering I finally decided on it and threw it together ten minutes before I left.

  33. I am not dressing up but I like it when the costume is a pun. I saw one on tv this week - the man had a baby carrier with the word Sugar on it - he was a sugar daddy.

  34. Unless it counts to put on my daughters soccer teams shirt and go as a soccer mom as I walk her around I'm not dressing up. My husband and I have gone as a devil (me)and angel (him) before but I think it would be fun to change it up and go as devil in a red dress and fallen fallen angel. It would suit our personalities better.

  36. Well at Goodwill I scored this deep red dress with a hoop skirt. It has black criss-crosing on the bodice. I plan on dressing it up as a Southern Lady/Vampire!

  38. I think it would be fun to dress up as one of the Dauntless from Divergent and Insurgent, but not one would know what I was. Haha. Thank you for the giveaway!

  39. I'm dressing as a farm girl. I have a red skirt with a petticoat beneath it, a white peasant top, a red and white gingham corset, cowboy boots and my hair in pigtails (tied with raffia). I'm still in search of a straw hat. :)
