Second Hand Saturday 11-17-12

Welcome to Second Hand Saturday!
In an attempt to clear our bookshelves, and pass on great used books to our stalkers followers, we have decided to hold weekly giveaways of some of the books on our bookshelves! Every Saturday, we will post the books available, and the following Saturday, we will announce the winner and our next challenge. The winner will get to choose a book from the list and we will ship it to that lucky person! Each week we will have a different challenge to complete.

This Week's Question:

Did you see Breaking Dawn yet? My official thoughts are that it was moments of awesome mixed with moments that were so awkward and cheesy that I wanted to curl up in a ball and die of embarrassment. So....that made for an interesting night.  What are your thoughts on the movie (if you have any).

Just comment below to be entered!

And this week's winner is...

ephrielle

Email me at Readingteen1(at)gmail.com with your book choice.  Please put "winner" in the subject line.  You have one week to claim your prize!

  6. I haven't seen it yet, but hope to next week. Haha! I felt the same way about pt. 1 So much of it was way cheesy, but I still really liked it. What can I say, I'm a Twilight fan girl and even with the cheesiness I still will enjoy the movies! I'm really excited to go see pt. 2

  7. I saw it last night and had completely forgotten what it was like when I read the book, so I found some of the scenes a bit gory. My absolute favourite bit was once the killing had stopped and we see Alice once more and realise exactly what happened - there was a huge collective sigh of relief as the penny dropped in the cinema!!! I think this one has been by far the one that was noticeably getting more reactions from cinema goers when the were viewing.

  9. I haven't seen the movie. I watched the first two and they didn't really click with me. I heard that Stephanie Meyer's stand alone book The Host is pretty good, but I haven't dug it out of the TBR pile yet.

    1. The Host is really great and has nothing in common with Twilight Saga, except that it's also written from a female first person POV. It's a dystopian/sci-fi alien invasion story, and even if you don't like TS, you should give The Host a chance.

  10. I agree. I loved it and parts were like nails on a chalk board. A thought also came to mind....if a vampire lost his head, could you glue it back on?!? I am sad that the movies are over, it was fun having girls night out.

    1. I think that's why the Cullens had to burn body parts of James and those newborns from Eclipse, because they can be put together:)

  11. I haven't seen it yet, my grandma is coming to visit me next week so we are going to go see it together. I am not all that excited about it, the others weren't great.

  13. I haven't seen it yet. Breaking Dawn was the book I really liked the least; and the commercials have made a lot of parts seem really awkward. I don't think I'll watch it until it comes out on DVD.

  14. I have not even seen Breaking Dawn part 1 and I don't intend to see part 2 either. I really hated the book! =(

  18. Haven't seen it yet but I really want too. I hate going to movies when they've just come out and are packed though. I hate sharing my movie experience with other people so I'll wait awhile before going. All of my friends who have seen it have been raving about it.

So I'm not going to see it. You couldn't pay me to under go that torture.

  21. Haven't seen it yet. I could barely force myself to finish the torture that was BD Part 1 when I watched it, so I'll just wait until it's on DVD.

  23. I have not seen it yet but I will on Friday. I developed a love for Robert Pattinson in the last couple of weeks in the midst of the movie's release and I can't wait to see it. I am aware of the torturous moments that will no doubt be in the movie but that will just make the whole thing even better.

  29. I've seen it two days ago. I really liked it a lot, it was beautiful and followed the book pretty closely, although a lot of things that weren't absolutely essential were left out, I guess they just couldn't fit them all into one movie. I'd say, in style, it was much more like Twilight movie, than BD Part 1 or the other two movies. I really can't say I noticed any cheesy moments.

I think I liked it more than the book, which I found to be not really interesting to me after Bella died. I really loved how they handled the conflict with the Volturi, which was just so 'meh' in the book. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen the movie yet, but trust me, you won't be disappointed.

  30. I'm actually not that excited *shrug* I think I'm just over it. But a few family members will surely make me watch it with them so...yeah.

  31. I haven't seen it and don't really plan to unless my friends are going. It's something that I know I'll see, eventually, so I don't really need to go out and spend the money to see it right this minute.

  32. I haven't seen it yet.. but I'm a loyal twilight fan... so whatever it's gonna be..I think I'll still like it (close eyes for the rest of the movie)..:D.. I plan to watch it this week..

  39. I agree with your thoughts. You have to see it to finish off the story in pictures but it really didn't need to be its own film.
