In an attempt to clear our bookshelves, and pass on great used books to ourstalkersfollowers, we have decided to hold weekly giveaways of some of the books on our bookshelves! Every Saturday, we will post the books available, and the following Saturday, we will announce the winner and our next challenge. The winner will get to choose a book from the list and we will ship it to that lucky person! Each week we will have a different challenge to complete.
This Thursday was Thanksgiving in America! How did you celebrate? If you're not from America, do you have anything similar?
Just comment below to be entered!

I'm from Canada and we have ours a bit earlier. Other than that it's pretty similar. Family, friends, the works.
ReplyDeleteI spent most of the day over my aunt's house with my mom's side of the family. We had a small BBQ cookout for lunch and and then we had the actual Thanksgiving dinner later on that night.
ReplyDeleteWe cooked a LOT of food and then had family over and ate and watched movies. It was super fun! :D
ReplyDeleteWe have nothing similar of the sorts. It was just another Thurs for me, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteI don't celebrate until tomorrow :)
ReplyDeleteI spent the day with my family eating!
ReplyDeleteSpent the day at my house with the whole family. Had a big meal then watched the first Christmas movie of the Holiday season!
ReplyDeleteMy husband cooked the turkey and made giblet gravy. I made cornbread dressing. My ten year old twins made a chocolate fudge cake. We meet his side of the family at his sister's house for lunch. Everyone contributes to the meal.
ReplyDeleteMy grandparents drove up from KS to visit. We made tons of food and watched football, Go Pats!
ReplyDeleteI had dinner with my mom, her boyfriend and his family.
ReplyDeletewe were supposed to have family come in but they had car trouble so it was just us but we still had a great holiday
ReplyDeletekmichellec87(at)yahoo(dot)com
We ate till we almost popped...then we ate pie!
ReplyDeleteWe have Australia Day which we celebrate on January 26. It's actually the same day as my Mother's birthday, so we celebrate that more.
ReplyDeleteI made and ate a big classic Thanksgiving meal with my family! (:
ReplyDeleteOur Thanksgiving are always spent together as a family. We get together to make the food and then enjoy it. Love the smell of a homecooked meal :)
ReplyDeleteWe had a big Thanksgiving meal and spent time with my family.
ReplyDeleteI'm from Romania, so we don't have Thanksgiving Day. :( It's too bad, because I think it's a great holiday and a good opportunity to spend some time with our families. Unfortunately, I don't think we have anything similar here.
ReplyDeleteNo, we don't have anything like this here in Lithuania.
ReplyDeleteWe had a nice small family get together at my husbands grandparents house. It was nice because we didn't have to cook. And they gave us lots of deserts to take home. :)
ReplyDeleteEach year, after stuffing ourselves with yumminess, we go to the local tree farm and pick us out a Christmas tree. :) A fun family tradition.

We had family over and had a big meal.
ReplyDeletebrandileigh2003@yahoo.com
All my family from my Mom's side got together to eat lots of food! (12 people all together)
ReplyDeletePretty normal compared to other people's Thanksgivings.
But my Mom, her sisters, and my Grandma have a tradition every year where they get together and go shopping for everyone's Christmas presents (generally only the kid's presents) so since they already were together they decided to go shopping early.
I obviously wasn't along (since i'm one of the kids they're shopping for) but it is a tradition my family has.
All in all though, I had a pretty boring Thanksgiving.
We had a huge family meal and just hung out. It was my husband and my first Thanksgiving in our new home, so it was exciting to host for the holiday. Thanks for the giveaway!

We had a delicious dinner at my aunt's house. We get to see people we haven't seen and it's tradition. Always great. :)
ReplyDeleteWe went to my Grandpa's for lunch at 2:00 and had sandwiches at my aunt's house for supper. Last night we had a real turkey dinner at my aunt's because more people could come, so it was like a belated Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, here in Brazil we do not have a Thanksgiving day =( So, it was just a normal Thursday for me.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I S2 turkey, it is so difficult for me to cook it {since I lack the cooking skills, lol} and I almost never eat it, although I love it so much!!! Maybe in Christmas I'll eat some turkey in a restaurant =] 30 days to Christmas now ^^
xoxo

We had family come in from Philly. We had a blast with family and friends! Thanks!

I celebrated with my family and friends, and, of course, I had a book along to read! :)
ReplyDeleteWell, even though I live in America I didn't celebrate Thanksgiving this year. It was more than less just another day for me.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win!

Spent the day with family! Then woke up Friday morning at 5 am to go shopping with my aunt and cousin. But before that I had been writing down little things I'm thankful for, music, books (of course), fuzzy pants... things like that. It was actually really fun and made me realize how much I take things for granted. I think I might continue the list even if it's not Thanksgiving any more!
ReplyDeleteWe had a small family dinner which I cooked with my mom (everything homemade except for the pie that my grandma bought and brought over...she's not a domestic, typical 'grandma' kind of grandmother).
ReplyDeleteMy family lives out of state, so my husband and I grilled hamburgers at a friend's house. It was non-traditional, but fun.

We had a very traditional thanksgiving dinner at my in-laws as we do every year. I was most thankful when we went home. I'm a terrible person, I know :)

With family! We all get together at my cousin's house and each family brings a different food dish to share and eat! Everything is better when it's done together :)
ReplyDeleteHere in the Philippines, thanksgiving is usually celebrated in Protestant Churches through beach festivals or simple church gatherings where families bring foods, to share and give thanks to God.. that's what we do each year..:D
ReplyDeleteFor some reason here in Wales we don't have Thanksgiving but we do have Guy Fawkes' fireworks on the 5th of November where we just blow things up (I mean fireworks) and make mayhem to celebrate and give thanks to the bombimg of the Parliament! Yeah, the british as not that enamoured with our government...
ReplyDeleteWe had a traditional turkey dinner with family!
ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Brazil but I'm thankful anyway for my family, my friends and my job!
ReplyDeleteWe ate turkey. Lots of it!
ReplyDeleteWe shared a big dinner with family and friends. Turkey with all the fixings! It was great.
ReplyDeleteWe don't celebrate Thanksgiving on the traditioinal day because my mom always has to work on holidays, including Christmas and Easter. We celebrated it the saturday beforehand. My dad and I went up north to hunt and for the first time I got a doe. It was a pretty awsome moment for us and I even got him to cry. It was a good Thanksgiving. When we did celebrate it, my mom was in a pretty cheery mood and had the best potatoes and turkey cooked. :)
ReplyDeleteMy holiday was busy! I flew home from college for five days, during which time I had church services, visited both sides of my extended family, went to a band concert, and attended a wedding.
ReplyDeleteWe had Thanksgiving dinner with hubby's family. Thanks for the giveaway. Tore923@aol.com
ReplyDeleteI went to my family's house and every year at 6 we go to meijers and go shopping for a little bit then i went home
ReplyDeleteWe spent it over at my aunt's house. My mom and step dad, and my grandma were all there. It was a really good time spent with family
ReplyDeleteIt was the first day of Winter in London and it was cooolllddd :D
ReplyDeleteWhoever is cooking we head over there. Normally my grandma's. : )
ReplyDeleteMy family and I sat at our dinner table and ate a delicous meal of roasted ham, turkey, and pork. The dessert was to die for: an apple pie. :)

We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here and we don't have anything similar.
ReplyDeleteBut on that Thursday I was with my family at a restaurant and it was a very nice evening :)

We don't celebrate Thanksgivng here too. And we have nothing similar to it, although we do have a family get-together for our New Year which falls somewhere around the time you guys celebrate Thanksgiving.
