Remy O’Malley heals people with touch—but every injury she cures becomes her own. Living in a household with an abusive stepfather, she has healed untold numbers of broken bones, burns, and bruises. And then one night her stepfather goes too far.
Being sent to live with her estranged father offers a clean start and she is eager to take it. Enter Asher Blackwell. Once a Protector of Healers, Asher sacrificed his senses to become immortal. Only by killing a Healer can a Protector recover their human senses. Falling in love is against the rules between these two enemies. Because Remy has the power to make Protectors human again, and when they find out, they’ll becoming for her—if Asher doesn’t kill her first.
This is Book One in the Touched trilogy, and will be out November 27th, 2012 from Kensington/KTeen.

While writing TOUCHED, I had three different playlists that I listened to over and over and over and… Well, you get the idea. The songs below are the ones I listened to the most.
A few of songs were ones I listened to on repeat while writing particular scenes. For instance, Remy has grown up abused by her stepfather and healing her mother’s injuries, too. I listened to “Because of You” while writing the opening chapter, and it reflects the relationship between Remy and her mother. The CSI Remix of “You’re Not Sorry” had serious play in a later scene between Remy and her mother.
Other songs reflect the romance in the book. I think “I Would Die for You” perfectly reflects Remy’s nature as a Healer and the sacrifices that she is willing to make for people she cares about. And “Yes I’m Cold” is a perfect song for Asher early on. One of my favorites relationships in the novel is the one that develops between Remy and her father, and “Daughters” reflects that sentiment. Emma Louise’s “Jungle” became an anthem for the book and the artist was kind enough to let me use the song for the book trailer.
Many of the songs had lyrics that made sense in the context of the story, but mostly the mood just fits the book and helped me to get into the writing. Some of the artists are lesser known, so maybe you’ll discover a new song to love!
