At eighteen there is one thing Kate Ericson is certain of—the world is at war and has been since she was two years old. That was when her father pulled her family and a group of close friends to a God forsaken place in the middle of nowhere. For Kate there is no escape from the sea of lies she is drowning in until her world collides with Hunter Marks—the son of her father's biggest opponent. An opponent that Kate didn't even know existed. What Hunter kidnaps Kate for, and what her family will try to kill her to keep secret, is a knowledge that she doesn't have. Now Kate’s innocence seems to becoming undone at the seams of reality. Hunter then finds himself fighting the hopelessness that is creeping into the edges of her heart as she learns more about the corruption that has devoured their lives. As Hunter and Kate forge a strong and unique relationship it becomes clear that their love is something that the bureaucracy never expected, and that Hunter's father will do whatever he can to destroy it. Hunter believes he must sacrifice love in order to teach Kate that the world's deadliest weapon is her. Hunter and Kate will have to find the strength to rise above a deception that is so great, even the ones who created it don't realize its depth.

At a Glance:

This book is set in 2031. America is no longer. In this post-apocalyptic world, Kate is living a lie with her family, and she knows it. Kate can't put a finger on what the lie is about, until she gets kidnapped by Hunter, the son of her father's enemy. Kate starts to put all the clues together before she realizes what real danger she is in.

I cannot stand the cover. Boring. Plain. Dull. Enough said.

Yes there is some action. Very rushed is some scenes. The ending was climatic, but only lasted of couple of pages, I hate when it's rushed like that.

Yes there was romance. Tons and tons of flirting between Hunter and Kate. Again, I feel like it was rushed. They were mesmerized with each other by page sixteen. I mean Hunter kidnapped Kate from her family, and she was having thoughts about trusting him completely, after knowing him for ONE day. Seriously, really? Not to mention the fact that she couldn't take her eyes off his chiseled chest moments after he kidnapped her. Ugh.

The Heroine was Kate. She overcame a lot of heartache and turmoil. She also learned to defend herself and hold her head high. Kate also stopped pouting, toward the end of the book, when Hunter didn't do what she wanted all the time.

The hero was Hunter. He treated Kate with sincerity  He taught her to defend herself well. Hunter came to her aid, saving her life more than once. Hunter was my favorite character, but then that's no surprise.

Favorite Supporting Character:

That would be Mara. She was really the only person who befriended Kate after she arrived at the tribe.

Something I loved:

Nothing :(

Something(s) I hated:

The rushing of the romance between Hunter and Kate. One of the quickest books ---> from being a stranger to love/trusting each other completely, I've ever read.

The ending. So-so climatic, only last a couple of pages.

Would I recommend it?

Will I buy/keep it?

Yes, I will keep it.

  4. They always make my imagination run wild!

  5. They're so different from real life~ :D

  6. Everything! I love how the characters are extra tough, survivors.

  7. Ummm, DID ANYONE READ MY REVIEW??? I'm just confused why you guys are so excited when this book was super cheesy.

  8. I definitely agree with you on the cover, not something that catches my eye and most likely would make me pass it over if I came across this on amazon. I am intrigued with the storyline itself, though I get it's not for everyone and I've read some up and down reviews for this. Usually, if a storyline grabs me, I'm already invested in reading it but I feel torn and am somewhat curious to what my feelings would be on this. Thanks for your honest review. I entered to win this, but will mull it over a little more and see if it's something I really want to take the time to read
