When seventeen-year-old Katy Swartz moved to West Virginia right before her senior year, she’d pretty much resigned herself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring, but then she spotted her hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up…until he opened his mouth. Daemon Black is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. It’s hate at first sight, but when a stranger attacks her and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. The hot guy next door? Well, he’s an alien. Turns out that Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities and Katy is caught in the crosshairs. Daemon’s touch has lit her up like the Vegas Strip and the only way she’s getting out of this alive is by sticking close to him until her alien mojo fades. That is if she doesn’t kill him first.
At a Glance:
I have had this book on my shelf for awhile now, then I was asked to make a book wreath out of Obsidian. I decided to finally read it, because I needed to know where the good scenes were, to design my wreath right. Wreath shown below.
I'm so glad I picked up this book. I had no idea that the main male character Daemon is basically an alien in a humans body. At first I would thought the plot of this series sounded a bit cheesy. Boy, was I wrong! Katy moves in across from Daemon and Dee. Katy soon becomes best friends with Daemon's sister Dee. Then all Hell breaks loose.
I like the cover. From what I can tell, the fans of this series is in love with Pepe, the male model.
There is quite a bit of intense action.
Ah, yes. A lot of flirting, tense romantic drama, and kissing!
Katy is a great heroine. Of course she has the help of a gorgeous guy, but who cares. Katy holds her own against the alien Arum.
Daemon. Not only does he kick Arum butt and anyone who messes with Katy. He took great care of his sister and Katy. He is very protective of the women in his life. I like that a lot.
Favorite Supporting Character:
I liked Daemon's sister Dee.
Something I loved:
Katy's growth and venerability.
The fact that I have all three books in the sequel signed by both Jennifer L. Armentrout and Pepe!
Something(s) I hated:
Some of the flirty fighting back and forth between Daemon and Katy got old.
Katy could be very naive at times.
Yes, but not to worry because you can buy ONYX and OPAL right now!
Would I recommend it?
Yes. If you like fantasy sci-fi with romance.
Did my friends like it?
Yes. I know quite a few book bloggers that love this series.
Will I buy/keep it?
Yes I will keep the series on my favorites bookshelf!
