In an attempt to clear our bookshelves, and pass on great used books to ourstalkersfollowers, we have decided to hold weekly giveaways of some of the books on our bookshelves! Every Saturday, we will post the books available, and the following Saturday, we will announce the winner and our next challenge. The winner will get to choose a book from the list and we will ship it to that lucky person! Each week we will have a different challenge to complete.
So, I just started the GONE series because Kit absolutely raves about it, and there's a character that I'd just like to reach in to the book and THROTTLE (Quinn). This week's question: What character would you most like to throttle if you could?
Just comment below to be entered!
And this week's winner is...
H.S. Stone

I'd like to throttle every whiny, whingy 16 year old female in YA.
ReplyDeleteRight now, I'm reading The Wise Man's Fear, and there is a bunch of pages where I'd love to throttle Kvothe for being so foolish and flippant.
ReplyDeleteThanks for everything and have a wonderful weekend!
I'd like very much to throttle Zoey from House of Night ._.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway :)
HAHAHA!!! That is who I was thinking! Its why I am just slowly reading the series. *Thinks of new character*
DeleteHmm... girls who let boys change them.
ReplyDeleteIf I could strangle someone it would have to be either Zoey from the House of Night. Reasons below.
ReplyDeleteZoey- In the first few books I really liked her and thought she was a great main character. Then, as the books progressed she became the dumb blonde ditz who relied on everyone else to tell her the right thing to do. I thought in a series the main character is supposed to grow... Seems to be in this case, that they don't, its almost like she is going backwards. Its come to the point where I am liking the b**** of the group, Aphrodite who seems to be one of the few to have their head on straight.
Joffrey from A Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin. That kid is really annoying to say the least.
ReplyDeleteNora from Hush Hush, I felt like she just didn't try hard enough to get answers from Patch early on, she just kept getting pushed around until something happened.
ReplyDeleteAGREE!! That book should have been called Push, Push instead....
DeleteArgh! Forgot to mention Hush, Hush!
DeleteAh well. Couldn't have chosen one character anyway, I would throttle the book if I saw it. Everything was awful.
Bahaha, no, I guess you couldn't!!
ReplyDeleteJordan from Catching Jordan by Miranda Kenneally. She didn't see who really loved her even though he was right by her side the whole time. He is who she should have lost her virginity to.
ReplyDeleteReally? It was Henry who annoyed me when he started acting like a prat and wouldn't speak to her. And I was okay with her not losing her virginity to Henry because for a guy who was in love with her for all his life he sure slept around a lot.
DeleteI never really know how to answer these questions because once a book is over I tend to loose any emotional connection I had to the characters (except a few). I'd have to say any character who has ever whined too much about something superficial or the girls who drool over a guy simple because he's hot...they make reading a chore
ReplyDeleteBella from Twilight. I mean, need I say more?
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Sometimes I thought she really was not a good representative of teen girls.
DeletePercy in "The Green Mile". Something bad should have happened to him much earlier in the book than it did because he was just terrible!
ReplyDelete+JMJ+
ReplyDeleteWhen I read the question, I said aloud: "Bella Swan! No contest!!!" New Moon was painful to read because she was so self-absorbed.
Then I read some other answers and think there should be two honourable mentions: Nora from Hush, Hush, definitely, and Luce from Fallen. I did not continue reading either of those series because of how insufferable I found their heroines in those first books.
Bridget Jones - her diaries made me want to scream. I couldn't stand her idiocy.
ReplyDeleteIt would probably be the Seeker from The Host!! Even after her change she still bothered me.
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to throttle Ember from Article 5 by Marie Lu. She's soooooo annoying! Grrrrr.
ReplyDeleteBella Swan, and every other character written into one of those awful, obsessive relationships :/
ReplyDeleteCole, from Everneath.
ReplyDeleteI hate him. HATE him! He's not annoying or poorly developed or anything like that. He's a pretty complex character. But I just hate him. I hate who he is and he should just stay in the damn Everneath and away from Nikki.
The mother in the book Fracture by Megan Miranda.. the things she did and say to her daughter ticked me way off... thanks for the giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI didn't know I had this many until this question, nor did I think I was this violent.
ReplyDeleteScarlett O'Hara and Catherine Earnshaw - They could compete for "The Most Infuriating Woman in Fiction" award, if there ever was one.
Gaia from Fearless by Francine Pascal: It's a love/hate relationship, but sometimes, the things she does make me want to punch her in the face.
Saf from Bitterblue: Man this idiot boy knows how to hold onto a grudge. *slap* GROW UP!!
Cassia from Matched by Ally Condie: First she took about 20 years to open and read the note, then she got rid of it because she was scared. WHAT?! So pathetic... I can't even...
Opal from the Glass series by Maria V Snyder: Wow this one character made me SO angry I think I would have thrown her out of a window had she appeared before me.
Travis and Abby from Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire: They were both asking to have their heads knocked together really. Both daft, both obsessive, both make stupid decisions therefore making them both perfect for each other. I gave up.
I think that's about it. I would mention Bella but she's infamous so I don't even need to.
Nora in Hush Hush...she purposely threw herself into danger for no reason. And she had no self-preservation instincts at all. I was screaming at the book more than I was reading lol.
ReplyDeleteThis is a fun feature! I love reading these answers.
I have to agree with the Cassia from Matched comment. I love the series but yes I was like what the crap when she reads the note and then without a second thought gets rid of it. I can't believe she didn't just hold onto it and contemplate for a little bit before doing it. I'm sure there's been someone else in some other book that I've been like are you for reals but I can't think of another one off the top of my head.
ReplyDeleteIn my mind, there's Celaena from The Throne of Glass. She annoyed me to absolutely no end and didn't hold up to what the synopsis offered. From the blurb, you'd think Celaena is a totally badass assassin who wouldn't take anything from her male counterparts, but in the story I got the impression that she'd not do anything for fear of breaking her nails, and constantly drools over her love interests! I was so awfully disappointed . . .
ReplyDeleteI'd like to throttle Henry in Catching Jordan. Run a little faster and catch her already! haha
ReplyDeletehaha... hmmph.. this is a funny question.. I'd like to throttle Bella, of course from twilight.>:D
ReplyDeleteI would LOVE to throttle Nora from Hush, Hush, and Luce from the Fallen series. I despised both of those characters. They were so weak and whiny and wimpy! I got so annoyed with them lol.
ReplyDeleteI would like to throttle Bella from Twilight
ReplyDeleteTravis from Beautiful Disaster; Bella, Edward, and Jacob from Twilight; Jace from City of Bones; I can't think of any others at the moment...
ReplyDeleteSince I'm currently reading Hidden, I'm gonna have to go with Neferet. I hate her so much!
ReplyDeleteFrom Beautiful Creatures Mrs. Lincoln
ReplyDeleteBlake from the Lux series
ReplyDeleteNora from Hush Hush for sure!
ReplyDeleteAwww, what's wrong with Quinn? One character I can't stand is Zoey from the House of Night series.
ReplyDeleteBella from Twilight
ReplyDeleteUmbridge and Bellatrix Lestrange form Harry Potter! They are soo infuriating!
ReplyDeleteBella Swan
ReplyDeleteBlane Kirk from the Kathleen Turner series by Tiffany Snow! He gave me mixed emotions when he stepped onto the page. At first, I was intrigued with him, then I wanted to smack him and then I wanted to kiss him myself. At one point, he made a huge mistake and I was ready to wipe my hands of him. He gave me so many up and down emotions....it was crazy :)
ReplyDeleteDEFINITELY BELLA FROM TWILIGHT... I dunno... she irks me... O_o
ReplyDelete
