Age Range: 8 - 12 years
Grade Level: 3 - 7
Series: The Unwanteds (Book 2)
Hardcover: 416 pages
Publisher: Aladdin (September 4, 2012)
The stark world of Quill and the magical haven of Artimé are now home to whoever wants to live there, whether they are Wanteds, Unwanteds, or Necessaries.
In Artimé, Alex Stowe and his friends continue to hone their artistic magical spells while welcoming newcomers, wondering how long this peace between Quill and Artimé will last. Alex is stunned when Mr. Today comes to him with a very special request—one Alex questions his readiness for, until circumstances offer a dramatic answer.
And back in Quill, Aaron Stowe, Alex’s twin, faces a very different path. Devastated by his loss of status after Justine’s defeat and seething with rage toward Alex, Aaron is stealthily planning his revenge and return to power.

So turns out I read this book two years ago when it came out and never wrote a review. But then when book three came out and I got it for Christmas, I had no clue what was going on so I read this book over and then read book 3 in the same week. So here, finally, for those who have waited patiently is my review.

In this book after the battle everything is settling down nicely. Every day more and more Necessaries come to live in Artimé and families who thought their children had died years ago are reuniting with their Unwanted children. Alex Stowe is finally able to rest easy, that is until Mr. Today puts a task on his shoulders he might not be able to complete. But back in Quill the Wanteds are not happy. They suddenly have to take care of themselves without their Necessaries to help them. Aaron Stowe might just take advantage of the unhappiness to take back the power he once possessed, and maybe even more.

I loved this book. I always have I just hadn't remembered all the details. I Loved the suspense and the plot. I had a hard time doing anything other than reading this book. I would normally say my favorite character is Lani but in this book she wasn't herself. She was jealous most of the book and for the rest, well that's a secret.  Alex is too cool but he makes some dumb mistakes. So pretty much no one acted like themselves in this book except Meghan who didn't do much until the end. So I guess she is my favorite for this book.

So in conclusion, this book is great! Very action, adventure, and suspenseful. Awesome in all.

  1. I haven't heard of this series, but I'm always looking for books for my daughter, who is within this age range. Sounds like one we should look into! Thanks. :)

    1. Great Kasey! Reagan read a lot of this type of book, so if you want to search through her reviews, you can click the "reagan's reviews" tag above to see more of what she's read. One of the series that she really loved was The False Prince by Jennifer A Nielsen!
