One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses.
Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever.
Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul.
But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.
Reading Teen asks Jennifer and Roth some questions:
RT_ First of all, it
seems like you write a book a month. How do you find time to write all these
amazing books?
JLA- I
spend most of my time writing. I try to write every day, even on
holidays, even if I don't get a lot of word count in. The amount of time
that it takes me to write a book varies.
RT- White Hot
Kiss is unlike anything you've ever written, what gave you the idea to
write a book about gargoyles and demons?
JLA- I wanted to write about something different, something that I
haven't done before. Gargoyles, similar to aliens, aren't usually
considered to be hot, sexy creatures. I wanted to write a book
that changed the stereotype.
RT- I've heard rumors
that you based Daemon's character from the Lux series off of
Roth, is this true? If so, please elaborate.
JLA- I wrote White Hot Kiss before I wrote
Obsidian, and, yes, Daemon's character is loosely based on Roth. Daemon
is a really toned down version of Roth which means that Roth is even more cocky
and sarcastic than Daemon.
Obviously everyone
is going to swoon over Roth, these next few questions are for him...
RT- Roth, where do you
come up with all the funny/witty one-liners?
Roth- I'm just naturally this way.
RT- Tell us more about
your snake Bambi?
Roth- Bambi
is a lot more than just a snake. She's badass. Kinda like me.
RT- What is it that draws
you most to Layla?
Roth- Layla's
got this innocent, sweet way about her, but she doesn't take my crap.
That's hot.
RT- From reading a few
early reviews for White Hot Kiss, I see a trend happening: This series
might just be everyone's favorite, that you've written so far, and I don't
think it's just because of Roth. What are your thoughts on this?
JLA- I've been writing about aliens and gods and
daimons for awhile, so this is something different for me. I'm hoping
that everyone enjoys reading about Layla, Roth, and Zayne.
RT- This book seem to
be mostly about Layla and Roth, will the sequel Stone Cold Touch be
more focused on Layla and Zayne?
JLA- Hmmm...I think readers will just have to wait and find
out. I can't give away too many details yet.
