The Murder Complex Interview with Lindsay Cummings

Hey Readers!  Have you heard of The Murder Complex?  This fast-paced, gruesome and thrilling book is one you're going to want to add to your TBR pile!  Today I'm really excited to be interviewing the author, Lindsay Cummings.  Check it out!

Hi Lindsay!  Thanks so much for taking the time to answer some questions!
If you could sing one song on American Idol, what would it be?
I would LOVE to just be totally ridiculous and sing DREAM ON by Aerosmith. Dress like them, too.

I think I'd pay money to see that!! Haha!  So, what's the best book you've read this year?
I think it’s been THE WALLED CITY by Ryan Graudin. That book just absolutely floored me! It’s coming out later this year.

Oooh! I'm so excited about that book!  I just met the author, and she totally sold me on it!  So, if you lived in THE MURDER COMPLEX's world, would you rather be a killer or a survivor?
Oh man. That’s a tough question!! I think I’d rather be a survivor…but to survive, you have to kill (or be incredibly amazing at hiding, and even then, that might not work)….so I’d probably say I’d rather just be Meadow. Someone who has a really good reason to survive and do what she does!

Which character was the most fun for you to write? Who are you most like?
I think both Meadow and Zephyr were equally fun. They’re so different in how they think about things, which I loved. I’m most like Meadow, because she’s stubborn as heck!

She is seriously stubborn! THE MURDER COMPLEX is a little gory. Are you a big fan of horror?
It’s funny, I’m actually NOT a horror fan. I hate it. It freaks me out, makes me feel like a wimp. But writing it….now that’s fun. I have no idea why! I don’t even watch horror, I don’t read it…but apparently I write it! :0

I can't watch it either.  I end up just sitting there with my hands over my eyes.  Did writing those scenes freak you out as much as reading them freaks me out?
No! Honestly it was super fun, which freaks me out to admit. Haha!

Haha, remind me not to follow you into a dark alley! Haha! Tell us something about you or the book we don't know yet!
I think not many people are going to know that the setting is actually where I spent all my summers growing up!

Whoa!  That's actually really creepy!!  Thanks so much for chatting with me!  I'm excited to see what people think about THE MURDER COMPLEX.

Amazon | Goodreads
The Murder Complex is an action-packed, blood-soaked, futuristic debut thriller set in a world where the murder rate is higher than the birthrate.

Meadow Woodson, a fifteen-year-old girl who has been trained by her father to fight, to kill, and to survive in any situation, lives with her family on a houseboat in Florida. The state is controlled by The Murder Complex, an organization that tracks the population with precision. The plot starts to thicken when Meadow meets Zephyr James, who is—although he doesn't know it—one of the MC's programmed assassins. Is their meeting a coincidence? Destiny? Or is it part of a terrifying strategy? And will Zephyr keep Meadow from discovering the haunting truth about her family? This is a dark and compelling debut novel that will appeal to fans of Moira Young's Dust Lands series, La Femme Nikita, and the movie Hanna.

  1. It cracks me up that Lindsay Cummings can write horror like nobody's business but can't watch it! Personally, I have a hard time watching and reading it but I'm still excited about this book!

  2. I love a good horror, so I definitely have my eye on this one!
