10 Places I Want to Visit After Reading About Them in a Book

By Kit

#1. Outer Space - Across the Universe by Beth Revis

Because it's outer space.  And I want to be immersed in stars.  And Beth Revis' descriptions of the stars were phenomenal.

#2. Paris - Die for Me by Amy Plum and Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

I mean come on.  It's Paris.  But both of these books did such a fantastic job describing Paris in a way that was so real and beautiful and I just want to be there now...

#3. Boarding School - The Disreputable History of Frankie Landau-Banks by E. Lockhart

Pranks. Uniforms. Boys.

#4. Prague - Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor

Because the artsy places.  The artsy people.  The artsy art.

#5. Back in Time - Time Between Us by Tamara Ireland Stone

Because I just adore the idea of going back in time.  Especially to the 90's.. or the 50's.. or the 40's.. Or the 20's.  I am convinced I missed my decade. And how great would it be to have a boyfriend who could bring you to all of them?!

#6. Beechwood Island -We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Because who wouldn't want to have their own private island complete with tiny beaches and chefs?

#7. Indonesia - Sea by Heidi R. Kling

Although I never would have expected to have a desire to visit Indonesia, Sea made me fall in love with it!  The culture was amazing and the people were beautiful.

#8. The Future - Uglies by Scott Westerfeld

I want a hover-board.

#9. The High Line - So Much Closer by Susane Colasanti

I had never heard of The High Line before I read So Much Closer a few years ago, and now that I live in New York, I go there all the time.  And it's fantastic.

#10. And OBVIOUSLY, Hogwarts. -Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling

This post was inspired by The Broke and the Bookish!

Where do you want to go?

  1. I am so excited to read this... I couldn't even decide between Zayne and Roth in White Hot Kiss, so I know things are about to get even worse! Plus Jennifer Armentrout will be at YALLFest next week and our Red Carpet Preview event, and I can't WAIT to hear what she has to say :)

  2. This series sounds really interesting -- Althea & Oliver touched on KLS, but it didn't get imaginative with what happened while Oliver was "out." Kemp's books sound super creative. Unfortunately, when I clicked links, Amazon doesn't have the book for free and B&N didn't have the book at all. I'll try again later today.

  3. Thanks for letting me know Kristine! I'll check with the author about it. I know sometimes Amazon messes up on these promotions. :D

  4. Looks like Amazon is being tricky, but here's a link to download it free on Smashwords https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/479396

  6. I totally agree!! I was all for Roth, but then Zayne would do something sweet and Roth would piss me off somehow, and my entire life was questioned. I. Cannot. Wait. Until. July.

  7. I really enjoyed These Broken Stars. I would tag it as a paranormal-sci-fi-romance. What do you think? I really liked the "Titanic" like story with the creepy twist thrown in for good measure. I did enjoy the characters and their growth throughout the story. Great review :)

  10. Awesome post! I have been reading so many horror stories lately that I can't think of transporting to those places! I definitely would like to go to Botswana, which I visit every time I read an installment of The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency. So calming.

I really want to see Paris and Prague as well! Hogwarts, is of course a given (I would never leave...). I would also want to see Camp Half-Blood (Percy Jackson) and Middle Earth (LotR) too! :)

    Great list!

  14. Great list! I'm not sure I want to go to boarding school (except for Hogwarts of course), or to the past. Oh, and I'll get to the future when I get there:)

  15. I like that! I could say that, "Paranormal-sci-fi-romance" :)

  16. I know! As I was thinking through books, I realized there were a lot of places I'd rather not visit! Like Dark Eden by Patrick Carman, I definitely don't want to go there, haha!

  17. Oh my god, I read Jaws recently. I definitely would not like to go to the bottom of the sea. Sharks are so dangerous.

  18. Somehow I doubt the truth of this B. Jesse Inman...

  19. I think it depends on what future it is. If it's like super techy and clean, then maybe. If it's like The Hunger Games...no thanks! haha

  20. Christina R. in the rafflecopter

Just in case rafflecopter shows a location outside US, I'm doing a semester abroad and would use my regular US address :)
