SERAPHINA
Seraphina #1
by Rachel Hartman
Age Range: 12 and up
Hardcover: 512 pages
Publisher: Random House Books for Young Readers; First Edition edition (July 10, 2012)

Four decades of peace have done little to ease the mistrust between humans and dragons in the kingdom of Goredd. Folding themselves into human shape, dragons attend court as ambassadors, and lend their rational, mathematical minds to universities as scholars and teachers. As the treaty's anniversary draws near, however, tensions are high.

Seraphina Dombegh has reason to fear both sides. An unusually gifted musician, she joins the court just as a member of the royal family is murdered—in suspiciously draconian fashion. Seraphina is drawn into the investigation, partnering with the captain of the Queen's Guard, the dangerously perceptive Prince Lucian Kiggs. While they begin to uncover hints of a sinister plot to destroy the peace, Seraphina struggles to protect her own secret, the secret behind her musical gift, one so terrible that its discovery could mean her very life.
An InterReview with Reagan about reading Seraphina:

We will start with the characters, your favorites and then your overall take on them.

Well, I'm full-heartedly in love with Lucian Kiggs, He's described as, brave, handsome, and AMAZINGLY AWESOME! I feel that caps give his awesomeness a booster.

Now all characters, they are all so cool and everything about them is secretive and twisted you feel you can never trust them. That's not a bad thing at all if that's what you where thinking. If everyone was open and no one had secrets then where would the mystery be?

Give us your take on the setting

The setting was in a kingdom that I forgot the name of. I liked the kingdom a lot, and the way it was described and everything inside it was just so well put and the description was put in a way that it wasn't boring but interesting.

Your favorite topic! Romance, yes, no, maybe so?

I'm going with maybe so. Maybe so, not giving to much away but hinting that there is a small chance. But with or without romance it was still really good.

Does this book happen to be action packed?

Half and half, the action will pop up randomly but this book is not action packed. The main character is heroic but is no warrior.

You listened to the audio, tell us about the reader.

I liked her a lot, so I rate her 4/5!

Well then, all I have left is, would you recommend it and what type of people would like it.

Yes I would recommend it. In fact I already have a couple of times. People who love fantasy, old timey back in the day stuff and, of course, dragons, will love this book!

Side-note

It's hard to get into, the beginning is a bit boring and confusing (at least if your my mother) so once you get past the beginning you will be hooked! Also listening to the audio helps.

Giveaway is for US/Canada residents and will be sent directly from the publisher.
