6 Books You Need to Read Before the Sequel Comes Out (and 4 I need to read)

Hello you lovely bibliomaniacs! There are so many different series out in the world today, that I've tended to shy away from starting them until I hear if they're worth investing my time into. So with that in mind, I wanted to give you some series that you will NOT regret starting. And now is the perfect time, because the sequel is coming out soon! (In order of release date, click the titles for my reviews.)

The Burning Sky & The Perilous Sea
by Sherry Thomas

The Burning Sky opens with an amazing introduction that hooked me immediately, and I loved every single page that came after.  It was magical!  I almost felt a Harry Potterishness about this world. There was magic and mystery and a beautiful slow romance. I just can't begin to describe the depths of my love for this series, these characters, this world, that ROMANCE, all that action, and the incredible, incredible storyline. There is nothing I would change. Nothing. I could read this book a hundred times and never get tired of it. Oh and P.S. I've already read THE IMMORTAL HEIGHTS and it is FABULOUS! So you don't have to worry! Get The Burning Sky NOW!

The Immortal Heights comes out October 13, 2015

by Martina Boone

From beginning to end, Compulsion pulls you in, keeps you guessing, plays with your emotions and leaves you breathless with anticipation. I loved this book wholly and completely. From the very beginning, Compulsion just clicked for me. I loved the writing so much. The characters in Compulsion are so fantastically written. I loved each of them so much, and the romance was JUST SO SWOONY! (Eight!!) I've already read PERSUASION and I loved it just as much. So go read Compulsion now!

Persuasion comes out October 27, 2015

The Falling Kingdoms Series
by Morgan Rhodes

I don't have a review for this series because I just finished the last book on audio recently. I wouldn't say this was one of my all-time favorites, but I did like it a lot, and it's definitely worth the read. The storyline is really well plotted and the range of characters is fantastic. I love that you never know who is going to end up good and who is going to end up evil. Oh . . . and who is going to end up dead.  Miss Rhodes is certainly not afraid of killing off a character or two, or twelve. If you like high fantasy (and let's be honest, if you don't, this post is pointless for you), I think you'll enjoy this series!

Frozen Tides comes out December 15, 2015

The Winner's Curse & The Winner's Crime
by Marie Rutkoski
There are not enough words in the universe to describe my love for these books. If you haven't heard of them, I don't know where you've been hiding, but I wouldn't want to live there. I'm just saying. They are two of the best books I've ever read.  The covers are gorgeous, the story is incredible, the romance is.....*sigh* good and torturous.  There are plot twists, betrayals, loyalties, politics, friendships, secrets, more secrets, and lies.  I can't sing its praises enough.  So, just go now and order  this one.  Trust me.  You won't regret it!

The Winner's Kiss comes out March 1, 2016

by Becky Wallace

The Storyspinner is everything that I love in a Fantasy. Every character in this book was well-written and engaging. Johanna is a fantastic protagonist. The romance is a slow burn, and so swoony. Then there was the magical element with the Keepers. Jacare, Pira, Leao, and Tex were so fun to read. The magic they could do was different and really intriguing. This book wasn't anything like what I was expecting, and I'm so glad that I picked it up. I can't wait to see what happens in book two!

The Skylighter comes out March 22, 2015
The Seven Realms
by Cinda Williams Chima
The Seven Realms Series is made up of The Demon King, The Exiled Queen, The Gray Wolf Throne, and  The Crimson Crown.  If you are a fan of high fantasy, you will not find a more well-written, emotional, intense, phenomenal series than this one.  This is, hands down, my favorite high-fantasy series ever, and quite possibly my favorite Young Adult series ever.  Each book is better than the last, and when you finish reading, all you want to do is pick it back up, and read it all over again.

I am cheating with this series because THE SHATTERED REALMS series is a spin-off and you don't have to read The Seven Realms to read it. But guys. Please. JUST READ IT! It will be a decision you never regret! And yes, I have read Flamecaster, and it is awesome!

Flamecaster comes out April 5, 2016

Those are the book that I've read and recommended. Here are a few I've heard great things about and want to read before the sequels are released!

A Thousand Pieces of You
by Claudia Gray

I've heard that this book is amazing, and Becca is constantly singing its praises. It sounds right up my alley, so I'm excited to give it a shot!

Ten Thousand Skies Above You comes out November 3, 2015

The Lunar Chronicles
by Marissa Meyer

I feel like I'm about to get yelled at about this one. Haha! Don't worry, my daughter, Reagan, already yells at me on a regular basis! I actually have read Cinder, I just need to read the others. I heard the audiobooks are really good, so I'll probably go that route!

Winter comes out November 10, 2015

The Orphan Queen
by Jodie Meadows

This is one that I should have read already (fantasy!), but just haven't gotten to. Elisa loved it, and Jess from Step Into Fiction has been singing it's praises as well. Plus, I've heard that THE MIRROR KING is absolutely awesome, and even better than book one! I love it when that happens!

The Mirror King comes out April 5, 2016

Talon & Rogue
by Julie Kagawa

This is another one that Jess talks about often. I'm a huge fan of Julie Kagawa, and have loved everything I've ever read from her, so I don't really know why I haven't started this series yet. I do have the audiobooks, so I'll probably give them a try! Have you read these?

Soldier comes out April 26, 2016

Have you started these series? Do you have any series you recommend that has a sequel coming out soon? What else should I be reading?
