Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke & The Bookish.
This week's topic is Ten Characters I Just Didn't Click With. Now that's not saying that I completely hated them, or anything of the sort, but for some reason, I just didn't click with these characters. Most of them are because they annoyed me to no end due to their dumb decisions. Some are due to their very unique...um....strange-ness. Some are due to being complete biotches. On the ones that are in a series...whether I continue the series or not remains to be seen.
Famous in Love by Rebecca Serle (Paige Townsen) - Ugh. I wanted to love Paige, and this book SO MUCH. Because it's the best idea ever. But Paige just drove me insane when it came to her decision making. I have the second book, but have yet to pick it up. I'm sure I'll give it a try, but my hopes are pretty low at this point.
The Heir by Kiera Cass (Princess Eadlyn) - Another decision making problem with The Heir. I LOVED the first three books in this series, and I kind of wish that they would have left it at that, because I struggled to finish this one. It's clear who she needs to be with, and clear that she is a complete selfish girl, but we shall see if I pick up the next one. I probably will just so my mom can read it and tell me what happens. Haha.
The Break-Up Artist by Philip Siegel (Becca Williamson) - Cheater, cheater, pumpkin eater. I don't like cheaters, especially ones that share my name. *rolls eyes*
Glory O'Brien's History of the Future by A.S. King (Glory) - This one was partly due to the story, but Glory really freaked me out. Some of the stuff that happened, I just.....don't get it. It wasn't my thing.
An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir (Elias) - Unfortunately, this was another one I struggled with. I identified more with Helena than anybody, and that is really frustrating since she's technically not a "main" character.
The Accident Season by Moira Fowley-Doyle (Cara) - The Accident Season was one of my most anticipated this year, but most of the time, magical realism just isn't for me. Cara wasn't for me. And the love interest definitely wasn't. It just didn't click. *wrinkles nose*
Paper Towns by John Green (Quentin Jacobsen) - John Green......just doesn't click for me, so it's no wonder Quentin Jacobsen drove me insane. I'll probably still watch the movie, but as far as giving anymore of John's books a go? I think it's a safe no.
Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige (Amy Gumm) - I really should've known I wouldn't like this one, because that's usually the case for me with Full Fathom Five books, but I pushed through and read it's entirety because hello! It's a Wizard of Oz retelling, AND I was meeting the author, and I feel kind of weird meeting an author that I haven't read their books yet. But yeah, Amy Gumm was more annoying than meanie Dorothy.
Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy (Alice) - I loved the premise of Side Effects May Vary, but the protagonist, Alice, was a straight-up butt head to every single person, and it just made me want to slap her! (Although I'm glad I didn't write off Julie Murphy for this one unlikeable character, because I ADORED Dumplin!)
Second Star by Alyssa Sheinmel (Wendy Darling) - Another character I thoroughly did NOT click with due to bad decision making. The entire time I read this book I was constantly SMH.
So those are the top ten characters I just didn't click with! What are some of yours? Did any of yours match up with mine? Let's discuss!!
